Album image #1
ICM provided the early propeller. My old Gavia/Eduard kit will serve as donor for a late type propeller.

Album image #2
Gavia/Eduard Engine vs. ICM. Gavia looks better.

Album image #3
Gavia/Eduard vs. ICM. ICM wings look way better than the older kit.

Album image #4
The bombsight’s opening is filled. Final sanding is still waiting. You can see an almost perfectly matching Evergreen strip, that will be used to create the wooden strips on the top.

Album image #5
Filled ejector pin marks and assembly jig for the modified horizontal stabilizer.

Album image #6
The modified horizontal stabilizer. This one looks more like the late style version.

Album image #7
Half-ready cockpit. Still needs a final layer of matt varnish and some clean up here and there.

Album image #8
Decal test on the Eduard parts. I am not going to build that old kit, so it was a perfect candidate for this quick trial

Album image #9
Interior painted - not as sharp as on the many amazing builds here on Scalemates, but good enough for now.

Top wing painted with yellow and started the masking

Album image #15
My custom made masking made in Inkscape and printed onto a Tamiya sheet

Still need a few touch-ups, but it looks quite nice.

Thank you guys! It is indeed a special livery, not seen too often. I am still learning how to rig a biplane properly, and I am still far from the WW1 masters.

Thanks, I have been dreaming of building this plane since the 1990s, when I have seen it first time in a publication. The available reference material was very limited, but the age of internet changed a lot, and found a handful of quality reference photos of the original. It was time to fulfill my old dream and build this plane.

Album info

This plane was handed over to the local flying clubs by the occupying Soviet forces in 1957. After an overhaul, the plane operated as glider tug until it crashed and burned two years later.
I made my own decals for the registration, and masks for the wing pattern. A late style propeller was taken from the old Eduard kit. I also addressed a few differences between early and late models.
Rigging is done by Uschi wires. I also used Eduard's photo etched set for detailing.
