Zlín Z-XIII (single seat) Project
Instruction sheet and small parts to assemble a seemingly simple kit.
The box contains parts to build a Zlín Z-XII and the single or two-seater versions of the Zlín Z-XIII. The parts of the Z-XIII are shown to choose between the two-seater and the single-seater.
Decals for two Zlín Z-XIII versions (one seat and two seats) and a Zlín Z-XII.
Cockpit interior.
Interior painting (pre-shading + medium grey).
Oils (black + sienna burnt)
Fuselage-wings attachment points.
PE control panel and bulkheads on his site.
PE seat belts, joystick and gas/flaps levers (made from scratch).

Checking the fuselage's fit, it seems that there will be problems with the canopy union.
It will also cause problems with the front seat cover.
Problems of the lateral adjustments solved by cutting a little and sanding at the ends. Now the problem is with the height of the canopy respect to the fuselage.
Canopy in place. No glued yet.
Putty and sanding.
Sanding windscreen surface for trying to fit the canopy.
Checking the dihedral after placing the wings.

Wings placed.
Drill holes in exhaust pipes zone.
Drill done.
Hypodermic needle cutting with electric cutter machine from Wave Corporation (same that Trumpeter tool).
Cuted off hypodermic needle.
Pipes exhaust.
Painting the wheels. Masking using Blu-tack.
Blu-tack retired. Viewing the result.
Removing the excess paint.
Landing gear in his site.
Masking the wheels with Tamiya masking tape for curves (recycled segments. Second time I have used same parts. Still adhere!)
Mixing paint in different proportions to test the results.
Result of metallic paint with different illuminations.

I decided to mix the metallic color with Tamiya's XF-59. I think the result is is some better than with transparent yellow.
Some parts were painted with other metallic shades.

Hello. Checking the fuselage's fit, it seems that there will be problems with the canopy union. There are also fit problems between the two halves of the fuselage. I have to make adjustments with the canopy, fuseage and some part of interiors.

Kit, Greg and Alec, thank you very much for your words!
Alec, I did paint tests to try to find the approximate metallic color, but after applying it in the model I realized that I have to correct some errors in the joints. In the attempt I broke one of the landing gear, although I do not think the repair is complicated.

Good job so far mate. I was also thinking build this one and now when I see your photos I think I really must build it 😄
How does the second one look? Zlin XII which is also in the box.

Thank you very much, Jiri. I encourage you to build yours 😉
It is a small and simple kit that should not take long to build.
Zlin Z-XII set is like the X-III, but includes resin parts for the engine and I think also for the propeller. I gave it to a friend, because I was only interested in the Zlin Z-XIII. You also have the option to build a Zlin Z-XIII two-seater 🙂
You can see a review of the box here:

Oh, it's going to be a grand finale! Can't wait! Except for the masking, it looks practically finished!

Many thanks for your words, mates.
This kit should be simple and quick to build, but I did have a few minor drawbacks and it should have improved a few things when I got the chance.

Nice little plane! Thx for building such an exotic type!
P.S.: TBZ probably does not mean Torpedo Bomber Zlin🙂

Many thanks to you for your comment, Bernhard. Your projects are a great inspiration for all modellers. Maybe OK-TBZ means that 😄

Oh! thank you so much Greg!
I wonder what it would look like in the Tintin's hands and among your big projects, if this were possible 🙂
