Thank you. It was my first attempt at the hairspray technique, and I have since been painting all my models with at least a little for weathering, sometimes only one layer. So, I have learned that German armour was always primed red, with the exception of their barrels, which were primed grey. So I started with that. Once dry, I spray a couple of light coats of TRESemme Tres Two hair spray. Waited a while, sprayed light coat of German grey. Then, slowly I apply a little water ata time with an old brush, and rub in spots where there would be wear. Being careful not to do too much at a time. Then, when dry, I spray another coat of hairspray. Let dry and put on the desert tan, do the same thing, then more hairspray, then winter white, and finally a coat of Matt clear. Then starts the oil paint rendering, which I will write more on later. All of this can be found in the Tank Art 1 book by Mike Rinaldi.

Excellent result Kevin. The weathering is amazing, particularly as it was your first time with a new technique.

Looks like this workshop paid off well for you! This is one stunning paint and weathering job! The dirt on the tracks and wheels looks great and very realistic! Great Job!

Album info

This is an experiment in weathering using the hairspray technique and oil pain rendering, as well as pigment build up behind road wheels. All of these things, I learned at a workshop held at Hornet Hobbies with Mike Rinaldi, author of Tank Art books. Not sure where the diorama is going yet, as I'm still working on the tank and figures.
