Thanks so much Alexander, yes I think they are originally more located towards the wing tip, or not? I had huge problems with the ICM decals, they all got torn despite decal fix, hence I replaced them with Begemont decals that I usually have on standby. But as a Russian you have all the right in the world to correct me, it's a Russian Fighter 🙂 The ICM kit was unexpectedly difficult to make, also the sprue-parts for the hull were twisted or deformed, lots of putty needed and sanding , much to the upset of my wife. The instructions sometimes left out several steps ..one picture is without gear, the next is fully equipped with landing gear, wheel bay and gear flaps...wow! Anyway give me credit it is my first model with wash and panel lines, yippee! I keep on guys!

Cortex , I primed the bird with Alclad grey primer, then as basic colour Vallejo Acrylic grey 128, afterwards Alclad clear coat. Then I used Enamel panel line from Tamiya in dark brown. When everything was dry I used ca. 20 ear cotton pads, soaked in fuel lighter, to swipe over the panel lines. The "dirty" cottons I used to swipe over the bigger areas so that a "used" image was created. Is not really a wash , I recognised that removing the overstays from the Tamiya with ear cotton is very difficult without traces of the enamel spreading over the wing and hull. Can anyone tell me if it is better to remove the overstay immediately or when dry with ear pads and fuel lighter? I some sort of did it in-between, not really dry ,but also not really wet on the panel lines.

When we talk about an enamel wash on a acrylic surface - I like to use kitchen roll to wipe the excess wash away. i use oils and lighter fluid. Apply the wash with a brush and let the cappilary Action do most of the work. When the lighter fluid is freshly vaporized it take a sheet of kitchen roll and soak it smoothly with lighter fluid and then i wipe away the rest of the wash in direction of flight. That works perfect to me. Kitchen roll works better to me because Cotton ear pads remove more wash from the panellines.

But preparation is the key to a nice wash. Doesnt matters if you use glossy varnish or future or pledge or whatever - it must be as glossy as possible. Thats the only way the capillary Action can do its work.

Thanks for the info Holger, do you let the Enamel Wash fully dry or do you Remote the overstays when they are still wet? I guess i have to sign myself in for the Wangerooge Meeting to practice my "shoulder view" on your Skills 🙂 🙂
