This is simply "Stunning" and the different 'tones' of metal really give this beast a look of reality.
A huge congratz' M.J. 🙂 👍 👍 👍

Kerry - the wings come off and it goes back into the box! Going to build a BIG display case (got a 1:24 Typhoon coming!) - if the wife doesn't kill me first ...

Really great model, it is beautiful.

The Tiffie should be taller, but with a slightly shorter wingspan, I think (this 'un's close to 3 ft from tip to tip!).
The metal finish was simply kitchen foil stuck on with 3M spray adhesive - right side up for shiny, other way round for matt, silver car spray for the other colour.

Keeping it simple eh. ?? 🙂

Makes me happy that I just picked on of these up at the IPMS show for a song. May be doing a full SAC bomber set! Great finish work!

Michael - I've been trying to get myself a copy, no luck so far. There's just a short clip on YouTube.
Let me know if you come across one for sale.
Cheers, Vimal

Hey guys it's also listed on Ebay as a Region free DVD just brought a copy! (I've been looking for this movie for years too!) I also have Bombers B-52 on DVD Thanks for reminding me again 🙂 Hey Vimal nice job on the B-36 by the way! 🙂

F.Y.I. The Dambusters movie is also out on Blu Ray, Very sharp print looks great but it's black & white. (What the hell happened to the remake Peter Jackson was going to do?) Oh and who can wait for TOP GUN II ... Hey it's coming oh boy... I hope Val Kilmer slims down? Oh and Kelly McGillis OH lets not go there! (I thought she was HOT back in '86) Kinda reminds me now of Carrie Fisher, BUT she bats for the "other side" now NOOOOO.. 🙁

Now, thats one big bird. Excellent job on that one. 👍

Glenn - thanks for the heads-up on the movie, but Amazon Live is not permitted for my area 🙁
Be careful about the E-Bay stuff, some of them are badly copied VHS movies (indeed, some of the vendors accuse each other of pirating their goods!).
Did manage to find a shaky print on Usenet (hopefully it's out of copyright now and the FBI won't come knocking on my door) - some interesting interior shots, which I wish I'd seen before building the big bird...

I do have the Dambusters on Blu-ray, one of my childhood favourites (filmed before I was born!). Great stuff, some actual footage in there as well. BTW, the 'N-word' shocks nowadays, but back then it passed without comment ...!

The "N" word you mean... Nigger (The name of the little black dog) in the dambusters right? Oh yea i remember hearing that the remake would use the name "Trigger" for the dog. But for some reason Peter Jackson never made the film anyway 🙁 The movie i ordered is a genuine release, I brought loads of DVD's and Blu Rays from Ebay and never got a dodgy copy yet if you buy from good dealers. I would never buy any titles from asia. Only U.K. , USA or local Aussie releases.

Nice build Vimal, 👍 the foiling looks great. I would love to build mine but am not keen on the kit decals. I would like to do something with a little more colour.

Ray, Warbird Decals did a couple of different sheets some have the bright red wing and tail schemes. Other than that i can't see it getting anymore colorful. Unless you do a "What If" formation ship like the B-24's of WWII 🙂

Glenn is right - I actually used their 'Common Stencils' sheet on my kit - the painting insturctions tell you to use aftermarket items for the wing walkway lines anyway.I think I have a scan of it somewhere, will try to add it to the stash database.

Album info

I had built one of these monsters back when I was around six, and when I found one on Amazon, I decided to go for it. It's finished in two types of Aluminum foil and silver car paint, and the wings are left unfixed for ease of storage.
