I bought this from MBK, but I think it came from stock elsewhere. Some politically-correct vandal had not only covered the swastikas with black stickers (thus defacing the photo reference sheet), but had also removed the swastika decals from the box. Sod’s law, that was the version I was hoping to build!

In this case you better order from MBK America. MBK Germany only gets the political correct kits, i think. I would drop MBK a line and ask if its possible to get the missing decals.

Thanks, I have submitted a complaint and they replied that this was due to German law. I don't live in Germany, and have no clue about German law, but what annoys me is that they did not make clear in the description that I would not be able to build the option that I wanted.

I didn't realise that there was an MBK America!

Hopp Schwiz! 😉
Sprichst Du zufällig deutsch?
Swasticas are generally forbidden in Germany, except for teaching purposes ore in a historical context. Ist forbidden to Import them and to Export them. This is why many manufracturers split those decals in two. German law is weird sometimes... 😮

Mein deutsch ist schlect 🙁

But the MBK site is in English, and I could easily read a prominent notice that the model had been modified in line with relevant German law...should such a warning have been given😉

All law is weird at some level or another! 😄

Well said, Nigel!😉

It would be nice if all manufacturers/ importers would do what some decal producers do- they put some easy to remove stickers over the " evil" signs.

And then split those 'evil' decals in two, so that they don't offend.

As it is, I'll have to source the Finnish swastika aftermarket, if such exists for something so esoteric, or create a mask. Joy.

Star-Decals and Echelon both offer sets for finnish tanks
I have sets from both companies- bought from MBK- and they are complete.

Ahhh, Star Decals, why didn't I think of that?

Just ordered from Hannants along with some nice Soviet ones...I love the slogans that the Soviets applied to their armour and aircraft!😉

MBK no longer seem to stock them, perhaps the German law caught wind of it.

So we can see a nice BT-42 from you in the near future? 😄

Nigel
It really depends on your definition of "nice". 😄
Let's just settle for a BT-42...with swastikas😉

Hang in there, dude! We are waiting.😉😉
Do you plan to add any aftermarket aside from the decals?

Oh come on, it`s a Tamiya kit. It is per definition nice 🙂

@Holger, I'll see how it goes together. I may just make it OOTB...other than the decals! 🙂

@HK, some of their older tooling is showing its age (I'm currently working on a venerable Tiger I from 1989, it's OK but needs aftermarket), but the BT-42 is relatively new and has had good reviews so it should go together nicely.

The only place where Tamiya sometimes let themselves down is...the decals! And that's not going to be a problem for me 😄

That's weird, never seen anyone do it with Finnish ones, they are distinctly different to the German ones so it is odd.

I actually had the kit once, was not confident with the skill level I had at the time, so I posted it off to girlfriend in Australia, I kind of wish I had one to do now though.

@Martin that's exactly what I thought when I read the reviews of the Crusader 🙁
