Dear people at Kitty Hawk,

if you don't get this out of the door quickly, you'll be in real danger of pushing AMK's F-14 from the #1 spot on the Vapourkit hit parade.

In case you are looking at sales figures of your competitor's crooked-nosed offering in order to decide whether to release this: we're not buying the other one because we're waiting for yours.

Sincerely,
Gluefinger

I understand your frustration, I've had Revell's 1/32 SuperHornet pre-ordered since November 2016!

I would like the badly hidden (as an example to the above) body of the guy in Airfix who still hasn't release the Sea Fury to be taken into account, your honour 😄

They havent even gave us a release date yet and they also posted in May that the kit will be re-engineered.
So i wouldnt expect it anytime soon!
(btw its the same for the 32 Hornet from Revell)
@ playtime 222
Airfix has offically postponed the Sea Fury to January/February - I think it was 2-3 months ago.

Yeah I know 🙁 Checked with them at Telford too.

A 1/32 Super Hornet from Revell? You mean, another alternative for an expensive, but less-than-impressive kit from TrumpyBoss? I didn't even know this had been announced. Now I am even more frustrated! Ah, ignorance is bliss - if only the marketing department s were aware of this... And so there's another item on my "TrumpyBoss have messed it up, so I'll wait for another" list which, apart from the Su-34, also includes the YF-23.

Be happy that they take the time to re-engineer the whole kit, instead of releasing it with flaws etc.!
But some folks will never be happy and btw again: KH never said they will release the Su-34 in 2017.

>> Be happy that they take the time to re-engineer the whole kit,

Well, the announcement that re-engineering is on the way was made so long ago that even kits announced later have already appeared in the market. My guess is that the whole re-engineering business is a ploy, because they are unsure of the products success with the Hobby Boss alternative already available and don't want to admit it.

These days you can sit down for an hour or two at your CAD workstation, make some minor changes to the virtual design, generate a couple of pictures, post them on the net and claim that re-engineering is on the way. I think that's exactly the extent to which Kitty Hawk's "re-engineering" of the Su-34 went - or did anybody see something more tangible?

Hey, Kitty Hawk -
you can take all the time you want now with "re-engineering" - I bit the bullet and bought the Hobby Boss offering. It turned out to be a great kit, well worth the money I spent on it, if you look at what you get. And there are now a number of rhinoplastic replacements to address its biggest (only?) shortcoming. Since most people who are interested in a quarter-scale Su-34 seem to have gone this way by now (and few have the shelf space for two) I guess it's "Platypus Has Fallen" for you now. Serves you right!

And you really believe I mean this seriously? Ever heard of the term "troll"?

Yeah, right. We all knew this would happen. Five weeks after I buy the HB kit, this is what I find:

😉
I think it is time I started building my Dynavector Gannet vac kit as this would surely provoke the release of a mainstream product.

I just ordered the Kitty Hawk kit from Hong Kong a couple of days ago so we'll see how long that takes....

Not being a fan of Russian jets myself the Kitty Hawk Su-34 looks like a really nice kit.

@Gluefinger, I think you should build your Dynavector Gannet if it prompts a mainstream company to produce it I won't have to build my Classic Airframe one. Not that the first one I built was that bad, except for the cowl to fuselage join.😢

My post was not meant to lambast the Dynavector Gannett. I built the Dynavector Wyvern some time ago, and although it was my first vac kit, it went together easier than some injection moulded kits I have built. In fact I cannot remember a single issue that was not induced by my inability to properly use cyanoacrylate glue 😉.

return of the mad riveter. btw the step behind the cockpit is hideous and of course it has to be right on top of the rivet detail so they can be all erased when leveling it all out. since the kit is free of charge out of good will of kh nobody should complain, nope....

Ok, I just got the one I ordered from Sprue Brothers and I couldn't even see the seam at first but once I unwrapped it I could make it out, but I don't think it looks bad. I looks like another panel line to me.

OK I can't figure out how to add my pics to this thread so I have 3 pics in an album, see what you think.

I just got the one I ordered from China yesterday, and it looks the same except it came with additional resin pieces, it had the wingtip ECM pods and some crew figures as well as the two types of engine nozzles.
