Typical Tamiya, went together easy peasy, just some joints fixed with liquid putty

Thanks Neil and Chan! Been at it with my weathering pencils this morning trying out some new stuff. Was fun but I think those work better in bigger scales - so I guess my next spitfire has to be in 1:32 🙂

Very nice looking result. 👍 Scale is a funny thing. I grew up mostly doing 1/48 WWII American aircraft, whatever Monogram offering that was at the LHS and they seemed quite big enough. Later, doing other subjects, it was surprising how "diminutive" the European planes were in comparison. The Fw-190 next to the P-47 is quite small. A 1:32 Spit sounds just great. Thanks for sharing your build!

Thanks John! But the P-47 maybe is a bad example, those were just gigantic πŸ˜… I think "normal" fighters like e.g. the P-40 weren't so different to their european counterparts. Or a Hellcat...those look quite small to me
Generally I think the weathering is easier and more realistic the bigger the scale, or maybe I just need to find a better sharpener for those pencils 🙂

Haha, true. The "Jug" is in a class all its own for sure. The American planes just seemed to be bigger and heavier on average but certainly you're right. A P-40 (or P-39), Hellcat don't seem gigantic. I think I was just biased towards the P-47 or F4U as those were some of the first kits I built.

I suppose a 1:24 Spit would be even better for weathering, but that's a lot of plastic to wrestle!

Been looking at some underside-pics of spitfires in use and they seem to have massive no joke oil leakage problem down there. Tried to replicate this mess with AKs weathering oil/kerosene stains - so, well, feast your eyes gents^^
Next up is soot from guns and engine
@ John: Mostly heard bad things about 1:24 kits but there seem to be a few good ones as well. But I already have this kit on order with some resin goodies as well🀩 Imo the coolest looking spitfire version

Yes, it was more of a joke as the old Airfix 1:24 kits give you a large amount of plastic vaguely shaped like the subject. Agreed on the Spit IXc version! Should make a great companion to the 1:48.

Thank you very much mates!
The base is simple+effective, acrylic block and a bicycle spoke, what I like about it is that it doesnt obstruct the view on the other models in my glass cabinet.
@David: 👍 also looking forward to this!
