Always fancied this one, hows it building.
Cheers Guillaume, David and Flight. DT, goes together really well, the fus and wings are together with no filler. BUT……. the matchbox trencher has found reemployment!! All the surface detail is waaaay over size and needs a bit of abrasion to reduce it to a more scale appearance. On the plus the plastic is Really soft and so sands very quickly, so beware
Thanks Istvan, BTW. Anyone building this could do a lot worse than follow this link for a walk round photo shoot..
Calling this done, other than a flat coat. I feel this has been a bit of an uphill battle for some reason and lost a lot of interest in it, so I shan't be weathering this beyond where it is already.
Looking great! I can't wait to paint mine.

Yeah I know Maciej 🙂 I'd heard the plan was they were going to stick it below decks.. couldn't fit it so sprayed it.. much to the Marines surprise.
One of those banter stories that over the years that it was a tit for tat zapping.
Like this one [img1]
Which resulted in
And Maciej, I fouind the story behind the US Marine phantom with the 892 sqn tail..
"Ark Royal cross decked with USS Forrestal in the Med about 1973, and had a couple of F4's from VMFA-531 operating for a few days. Came time to go into Grand Harbour and one F4 went U/S, and went U/S and went U/S as we came very close to Dom Mintoff's anti-USA dominion. The only solution was to strike the offending machine into the lower hangar away from prying eyes whilst we were in Malta.
After a couple of days it was snuck into the upper hangar and repaired by 892, who had this really nice tail fin colour scheme. A few days before we departed Valletta a light grey RN F4 appeared on deck to carry out ground runs, with brown paper stuck just where USMC markings might have been
Within 2 hours of clearing the harbour, VMFA-531 CO's personal airplane was returned with one of the best zaps: so good, he took it all the way back home"
Sorry for thread hijack.. 🙂
Great anecdote @Augie. 👍
Anecdotes like this are always very welcome, and are one of the great things about this hobby.😎 👍🏻
Thank you, Augie, for sharing this story...and these photos, I believe (and I hope) there will be someone to paint a Harrier model in this "special" livery 😄

Hi David, I don't want to be that guy but if you want to do the Royal Navy FG.1 I have to remind you that you need the slotted stabs. Which are not included in the Revell kit because that is the RAF FGR.2 kit. Also the nose gear leg of the FG.1 had two torque links(because it coulde be extended) instead of 1 for the FGR.2 which also isn't included in he Revell box..
No you're correct, and Thankyou for taking the time to comment and stop me making potential mess up, but I have spare stabilators from my academy f4c which used plain stabs and I'm working on the nose gear options atm probably get the SAC extended nose gear. 👍🏻😎. Alternatively I may try to scratch or borrow a link from another kit as the link is hardly visible between the front wheels
Good to hear that you had it figured out already! Definitely going to follow this one. Will you only start after January 1 when the group build starts? I'm not going to wait for that because I'm starting my British F-4 as soon as I can.
Erik, I have soooo many phantoms , and I've already started Rudolph , so yes, I'll probably wait for the new year or maybe the Xmas break.
On the up side I've decided just to throw money at it and bought the SAC landing gear 😆
Haha good decision David!! Looking forward to your build mate

Very nice spook David! The colours looking great👍!
Thanks Konrad, the green could have been a bit "greener" it looks a bit too olive to my eye, but hey, next time !!
This is an impressive looking Phantom, and being an Italeri kit I can appreciate all the effort that has gone into this build 😉👍
James, you are far too kind , Thankyou for your kind words 👍🏻
