Gordon Sørensen There is a grand total of 14 parts in the kit. And it has the detail you would expect from a kit that has 14 parts... The instructions (what little there is) have you scratchbuild a lot of the interior, as well as some exterior parts..
Instead, I made a resin cast copy of the tailwheel, antenna, sidewall, floor and seats from the Academy T-6G. I also cast a copy of the engine and airscoop from the AZUR NAA-57..
10. May at 17:43:19
Matthew A This looks intresting. From what I have heard Beechnut Models are accurate in shape but need a lot of work
10. May at 17:50:23
Erik De Smet I once had this kit too and it ended in the waste bin, once the AZUR kits came out ...
15. May at 18:33:47
Gordon Sørensen Got the resin interior installed. Still have to do the rear bulkhead and shelf, but that will be done in plasticard.
Either through bravado or over-estimation of my abilities, I razor-sawed the cowling off.
Figured there was no way I was going to be able to mount the interior and the engine, and close the fuselage up...
Added a 0.5mm spacer to give the cowling a little more visual impact. That, and to give me a little more room for the replacement resin engine. Still had to trim the heck out of it to get it to fit though.
15. May at 18:41:37
Matthew A Good idea removing the cowling to make work easier

Łukasz Gliński If I may, I'd propose white primer :)
2. April at 19:20:05
Gordon Sørensen Yeah Lucasz, I was thinking that after the second or third coat. A little late now...
2. April at 20:51:08
Łukasz Gliński We both know it's never too late to wash away the misbehaving white paint ;)
3. April at 06:05:07
Gordon Sørensen Broke down and took Lucasz' advice....
Sanded some of the white, gave it a coat of Tamiya white primer, and then a final coat of Testors White. More or less happy with coverage now.
Resprayed the bottom in Tamiya Grey Primer.
Ready to make the fuselage windows.

13. May at 17:05:46
Łukasz Gliński Glad to hear my advise is welcome ;) Waiting for the blue part :)
13. May at 18:37:27
Gordon Sørensen Soooo.... the blue trim is translucent. I need to redo the white/grey split on the fuselage. Right now you can see the grey through the decal, so I need to re-paint white where the blue decal sits.
One atep forward, two steps back.... And this isn't even an Amodel Avanti...
14. May at 15:49:24
Łukasz Gliński Thou shalt not take the name of the Avanti in vain ;)

Gordon Sørensen Book shelf fell on this one.... Broke the wingtip, landing gear, canopy, cracked the fuselage...
Slowly putting back together. Think this one will be regulated to the back of the display case...
8. March at 15:45:41
Cuajete Looking good so far. Good luck with restoration.
13. March at 19:04:20
Gordon Sørensen Damaged repaired. Didn't quite get the fuselage crack exactly lined up but too late now.....
The rear fixed canopy section went "ping" with the shelf incidence. Trying to find a replacement...

Gordon Sørensen Got these Nail Polish Holders from aliexpress for $2.25 (including shipping!). Kind of a tight fit for the Micro-Sol bottle or a Model Master paint bottle, but should help prevent spills...

Richmond Why do so many modellers have multiple copies of the same kit in their stashes?
24. March at 20:15:08
Augie so we can build different schemes,, cause we're indecisive and cant choose one lol
24. March at 21:17:26
Choppa Nutta haha Augie very true !! :)
but also a second chance at building it but with less mistakes (hopefully) :D

Gordon Sørensen Different Schemes, Different Version, or maybe we just like that airplane! I have a couple models in my display cabinet I finished in the early late 70 or early 80s. Would like to try again just to see what I could do now...
25. March at 17:10:49
Clifford Keesler I have a Academy FB-111 that was my first build, after returning to the hobby. To look at it now it looks terrible, so it will be getting tore down and given a majior face lift, with what I have learned here on scalemates over the last four years.

Gordon Sørensen Started on the cockpit.
Cut the elevators away from the horizontal stabs.
Added a couple strips in the wheelwells so they don't look too empty...
13. February at 16:06:49
Guy Rump Following with interest, I have one of these in my stash.
13. February at 16:57:38
Gordon Sørensen Bit of a gap at the wing root. My solution was to put a shim in the fuselage to try to widen it up a bit. Closed the gap and now don't think I even need a dab of filler.
27. February at 15:09:18
Gordon Sørensen Used a Prismacolor Pen to hi-lite the panel lines, and a q-tip to remove the excess. Gives the underlying paint a nice, used look...
3. March at 18:19:05
