Building the Roma
all the small parts...
...more of them...
...MORE of them...
...OKAY. THAT`S IT!!
Chimney with some PE
In its position, and also the command-tower...
Platform for ths small-AA
And the completed command-tower
And again small parts, this time for the 90mm AA
platform for the small AA and the barbette for the 90mm AA
As the 90mm AA has had a Blastbag, I had to make it myself.
Copperwire and wood-glue is are used therefore.
painted with Revell 76 and Tamiya Decktan
In position, together with the small AA´s
And the actual look. With the rangefinder for the 152mm, small AA, 90mm AA, 105mm for lighting and some other parts.
The aft-command-tower, also called "the mushroom" 😉
The parts for it.
completed and painted in its position
The boats and small parts
The 152mm turret parts
This is, what my dockyard looks like during work...
Difference between the kit and the real ship: 20mm twins. This is, what they were like aboard the Roma
Big problem: The paint shemes, shown in the literature, are not correct. So I had to correct it, according to the photos.
PE-railing
Boats in position. But the photos only show these two in position. All the others are "missing", even these two aren´t on all the pictures. So there won´t be none of them on my model.
And this is, why: Bad quality 🙁
Parts for the catapult
Parts for the aft-deck
Ro 43 floatplane parts
And in position
Anchors in position
the completed aft-deck
the completed aft-deck
And this are the last parts: Anchor-chain and railing ...
... floatplane and sprues for heat-stretching
The beginning of the railing. It doesn´t fit 100%, although it´s the original Trumpeter one... 🙁
The kits anchorchain. Without...
... and with colour.
The beginning of the rigging.
And more of it.
The Ro 43 floatplane. The decals required a lot of softner, to make them fit.
The finished rigging. The flagg is also in its position.
Ready, waiting for the socket. I order mine @Diosockel.com.

Thank you, mates.
Building it isn´t as easy as I thought.
The overall fitting is not that good.
Actually it requieres a lot of filling and sanding... 🙁

Was the Roma not one of the ships that had been hit by a Fritz X?

@Christian B.: You´re right, but the Littorio´s are definitly some of the best looking ships.

Some new pictures.
The command-tower ist finished, just like the 2 chimneys, most of the 20mm and 37mm AA, the 90mm AA and some ohter parts like platforms a.s.o.
Next step will be the boatdeck, the aft tower and the aft 152mm.

The Italian Navy is not my favorite but this one turns out really nice not only because it?s interesting color variation, red and white forward deck, grey camouflage and green underwater hull. Good result with the AA gun blast bags. That comes our very realistic!

Looks great! Some minor washing on the wooden decks would make it perfect.

Thank you guys.
@Christian:
I don´t use washing.
Since I´ve been sailing aboard the Gorch Fock, I´ve a good impression of what real wooden decks look like from a certain distance...
And a washing wouldn´t be helpful in my opinion.
It wouldn´t look good, I think.
Thank you guys.

Hello Mathias. I have not attempted a ship model, but if I did, I would hope it would look as well built and painted as yours. Very beautiful job patiently put together.

Thank you very much, mates. 🙂
It was hard work, I have to admit...
The overall fitting isn´t as good, as I was used to it from Trumpeter.
But in the end it was still fun, and that´s waht´s important😉

I build Italian aircraft and getting ready to do armor as well and thought about trying to do this ship! After much thought I simply have too many projects to add this to my list, but I am super happy getting to watch you build yours. You are doing a fantastic job. How long is this model? Are you going to weather it any?

Thanks mates.
@Christian:
That´s just the way, I understood it 🙂
@Kevin:
I´m not wethering my ships.
They will be presented on a socket, and not in "water", so I think, weathering wouldn´t fit.
Thanks mates.
