I start cleaning the parts, there was only little flash along the parting lines to be cleaned. I drilled out the headlight and exhaust and add a centre axis made of 0,3mm brass rod to fix the handle bar and front wheel. Some more details in progress, so stay tuned.

Nice build sofar. And in a 72nd scale? So small oO.

i would suggest to use steel wire. it can be really thin, a lot more resistant than stretched sprue, and you will not even need to paint it since it is already metal colour... you can fin really thin ones.
good luck with it, you will need some😉. i have one bike with side car at 1:87, and may follow your example
I did something similar in a much bigger scale, and it took a considerable amount of work.... doing it in 1:72 would certainly be fun

Thank you Roger, Spanjaard and Julian for your interest and kind comments.
Mhhh, Spanjaard, steel wire is a very good idea and I don't know why I can't see the wood for the trees 😄
I still have some Silver Nickel 0.1mm rod in my stash. I think this should work fine so I'll give it a try.
I cut out the casted stand and the exhaust pipe and made new ones from styrene and brass rod. Because of the soft plastic this went out without any problems.

yes, that is the type that i was thinking about. maybe it is possible to find it even thinner, not sure about that. the complicated part will be hoe to place and glue it... really curious about how you do it.

I'll join the party - will be fun to watch. Exhaust and stand are already a big improvement!

Spanjaard, let me check the dimension in comparison to streched sprue and how it may will look. Streched sprue will be thinner and a light grey plastic will look ok as well.
Thomas and Stefan, thanx for watching and for you kind comments🙂 Yep I know the figure, but in this case the motorcycle will stand byside.

@Mike, some of the figures of that WD company are incredible. and sure, the wheels of the WDMT12 Clyno motorcyle look really good ( wdmodels.com/page5.htm#Thorney)
company is in scalemates database. but the bike and other items are not yet....

Thx Mike, Bart and Spanjaard for your support and very kind comments 👍

@Mike, thx for the hint! This seems to be a good side effect for a scale 1/72 F.2B or S.E.5a 🙂
I thought to use scale 1/700 PE or streched sprue for the spokes, but due to much to much real work at the moment I had no time to make a try of it.
@Spanjaard, I can highly reccoment the W&D figures, vehicles and accesories. At SMW in Telford in 2010 they gave me a sample of WWI figures and I had a lot of fun to paint them

i see what you meant, i just had a look at the album. really good figures, and you did them really nice! i wish they were making some WWII parachute troops ready to board a C-47, it is a diorama that i have in mind for a very long time.... but i have never seen the figures for it 🙁

Hi Christian, they make a spoked wheel set that is meant for armoured cars so might fit aircraft.

Spanjaard - WD only make 1914-18 subjects.

Thx for the link Bart. This is a really nice diorama. I didn't know so far that Preiser has some US Paras.

@Mike, yes, i know but dreaming is for free...😉
@Bart, thanks a lot, i was kind of looking for paras with their gear, kind of standard ones, but this can be really and good option, thamks.

Album info

This is Airfix little BSA M20 Motorcycle out of the WWII RAF Vehicle Set. The motorcycle is made of just three pieces of a light grey soft plastic as customary with the new range of Airfic kits.
Although it is a small scale, the detail is very nice and sharp. According to the small scale there are no spokes on the wheel rim. So it is true scale, but I think about to add spokes made of stretched sprue – but time will tell. Next to this I try to add some more details, drilled out headlight and exhaust pipe, centre axis for the handle bar, new stand, etc. Seems to be fun to work on this nice little kit.
