Christian BruerThe new Airfix kit is really nice and promise a lot of modelling fun. I start with the cockpit, for some more details I choose Eduards PE set. More expensive than the kit itself but it contains some nice and useful details like controls and dashboard. Cockpit is finished and ready to paint. Access hatches on port side are opened. Some more progress soon.

Christian BruerYes it is, but it is a nice scale. Don't know why I missed it so far.
Not sure about the markings, I much like the scheme coming along with the kit. But no problem, I still have two more in my stash😄

Christian BruerAfter painting the parts, I use the same colour as I used on my Hawker Hurricane, the interior parts got a wash with highly thinned oils. The paint looks dry, but I will give the wash some days drying time before I start cleaning the wash and highlighting the surface and details.

Christian BruerOnce the wash completely dry I add a coat of basic paint brightened with some white to highlight the surface and set lights to the details. I try to hold the balance between dark and bright areas not to overdo the effect. So far I'm really confident with the final result.
Adding the pre painted harness was not that easy because the printed paint come off bending the belt to much.
Next step is to assemble the fuselage halves and the wing section.

Christian BruerNext to my Hawker Hurricane a made some progress with my Tiger Moth. Fuselage halves are fixed, as well as the lower wing and tail plane. There were some filling and sanding required getting smooth and clean surfaces.
The parts are slightly bent and the wing assembly need some more attention, but all in all it wasn't a challenge. I did not add any additional detailing so far, but cut out the small intake on the port side of the cowling.
Some more progress on this nice little kit soon.

Christian BruerAll, subassemblies are build and ready for further detailing. I will add some Eduard PE and some gaps have to be filled.
The fit is quite good. The wings assembly look odd first, but if everything is fixed correctly it will work out nice at the end. I will close the supports on the lower wing and drill four new holes to fix the stringers.

There are some quite nice parts in the small Eduard PE to extra detail the exterior. Oil pipe, supports, covers and hatches, pitot tube and control levers. I forgot to cut of casted details replaced by PE, but it wasn't any problem to remove them from the already assembled model.
Carefulness was necessary drilling 0,3mm holes next to each strut as a location hole for the later rigging. I plan to try a technique used by my mate Axel – high stretched elastic rigging material threaded on a stretched sprue made of a small tube of a Q-Tipp. The stretched sprue will be fixed at the end of each stay and glued into the holes.

My first attempt on one of the most famous aeroplanes ever. I choose the new Airfix kit, all reviews promised nice details and modelling fun and my first view and start on the kit second that. I do not know at the moment which colour and markings, but time will tell.
