Hi, my advice for the future build [updating], can you find lead wire Plus Model it is a wire from 0,2 to 1,0mm. Perfect for engines and wheel bays.

Wilfried Bogaerts
Can't wait to see the finished item at the club! 😉 Are you going to arm the fish or were float-equipped Swordfishes not armed?
7 March 2012, 21:36
Bill Gilman
Loving it so far! Got to build a Stringbag myself one of these days!

Good progress so far, nice sturdy assembly.

lower center wing is mounted, dryfit of the engine, looks ok to me. The HARD decision today is to NOT use the PE riggings as they don't fit as I want them to. I'll use the eyelet/turnbuckle method, hell yeahn let's twist some electric wire 🙂
1 April 2012, 16:51
Zimmermaniac
twisting eyelets in 5 steps 🙂

1 April 2012, 19:36

72nd is too tiny I'm afraid
1 April 2012, 19:54
Bill Gilman
Never! 72nd is "The Gentleman's Scale." 🙂

Very impressive technique for the rigging! I like it a lot! 🙂
9 April 2012, 20:55
Zimmermaniac

14 April 2012, 06:56
Zimmermaniac
no Phil, not almost finished, just a dryfit
14 April 2012, 08:34
stefan natus
Coming along nicely.
The wiring keeps me away from biplanes.
14 April 2012, 08:58
Zimmermaniac
just try it once Stefan, it's fun with the right music to accompany you. I allways play Sinatra whilst rigging 🙂
14 April 2012, 13:09
Bill Gilman
Frank, Frank Jr, or Nancy?
14 April 2012, 13:31
Zimmermaniac
Frank, the one and only, especially love that '67 album with Jobim
14 April 2012, 13:34
Bill Gilman
I love them all, but Frank is the King. Well, Chariman of the Board, actually. Yes, the album with Antonio Carlos Jobim is exceptional. Do you have the compilation from 2010 that includes the second album that was never released at the time it was recorded?
14 April 2012, 13:42
Zimmermaniac
I have that album on vinyl
14 April 2012, 13:44
Bill Gilman

after being registered on Britmodeller for about an hour, I got pointed at the fact that I missed something with the rigging on the right wing, so I tore it off and redid, should be ok now. Canopy came out of the paintjob very well. Also added the tailrigging
21 April 2012, 16:04
Philip De Keyser
Great swordfish Zimmy, looks really awesome, greetz Phil
21 April 2012, 16:18
Zimmermaniac
not really sure if it's visible on the pics, but I tried my best and added the control cables for the rudders
22 April 2012, 13:48
Jan Goormans
Zimmi, rigging is really your thing 😉
excellent !!
22 April 2012, 13:57
Zimmermaniac
told ya before Jan, it's fun 🙂
22 April 2012, 14:11
Bill Gilman
The rigging looks great! I have the new Airfix 1:72 Stringbag on my wishlist, but I've never rigged a model - ever! It looks difficult enough here in 1:48, what will it be like in 1:72??
23 April 2012, 13:06
Zimmermaniac
172 is a bit tiny to work with eylets/turnbuckles, so ya just have to drill holes and cement your rigging wire in "em. I read a lot about EZ-line used for rigging, guess that works perfect for 1/72, it's elastic
23 April 2012, 13:30
Zimmermaniac
so ok, left wing mounted and rigged, the end is in sight
25 April 2012, 20:13
Zimmermaniac
2 outdoor pics, they do right to the colors

Zimmi, this is fabulous! Amazing result and rigging! The overall-view opens a new way of thinking about this aircraft! You got it!😢
1 May 2012, 14:05
Holger Kranich
Enjoy your wine, its very well deserved and awarded😢
1 May 2012, 14:07
Christian Lehmann
I do not know what is missing ( maybe the exhaust strains) but it looks damned good.
1 May 2012, 14:08
Zimmermaniac
The weapons don't count for the missing parts, because I never add weapons if possible, no, it's a tiny, but very crucial part...
1 May 2012, 14:10
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
No weapons????Does it sell ice cream or what???
1 May 2012, 14:25

Dirk Heyer
Hi Chris,
very well done and the paintjob is smooth and accuracy!
The clipped wing is a nice technical feature! Looks more busy now. The rigging is also well done!
All in all a fine model!
