Really nice, especially in 1/72nd scale! Very impressive.

@lochsa River. Thanks a lot for the compliments. I tried to finish this in such a way that people could mistake it for a larger scale. It was good enough to fool a Ukrainian webshop on Facebook. 😄

@skywalker thanks a lot for the compliments. You are right there is a lot of different techniques done here. Cool you noticed it. I'm especially happy with the translucency of the wings that was something I was not sure I could pull off this small

Simply fantastic. Certainly looks bigger scale than 1/72!

Excellent work and finish 👍 Can you explain please how you made the translucency effect? I guess you paint the national markings etc. on the underside of each wing and add a few thin layers of the final colour!?
TIA, cheers Christian

@Christian Bruer thanks for the compliments. Basically that's the way I did it. First airbrushed the underside of the wings and the tailplane in a dark brown. Then did a lot of masking with 0,5 and 0,7mm tapes. After that everything got airbrushed white. Then on top of that I mask the roundels which were cut from masking film at my work. Airbrushed the blue and the red. The white was already there of course. Did some additional shading with flat earth along the main spars. Took off all the masking and then covered everything in a very thin coat of a linen mix I made with tamiya acrylics.

Wow, this is great work, in that small scale 👍 Especially the double wire rigging. This keeps me constantly away from the SPADs in my stash.
Do you like some small critic?
Do you have a picture of the original? I'm asking because of the airscrew: You put a lot of effort in, but the french machines had usually painted them in a dark brown. Only Germany and relatives had not enough mahogany due to embargo, so you will normally not see those layered wood of different kind on French and British aircraft.

@bughunter. Thanks a lot for the compliments. I have to say that the rigging was not half as daunting as I expected. Since they mostly are tied from strut to strut instead of emerging from the wing a lot of it can be done before adding the top wing.
And I'm always open to critique, no problem. I don't have a pic of the original. I went purely by the instructions and made it a laminated prop because I like the looks of it. I was not aware that was pretty much a German thing so I learned something new today

There is a nice WWI 3-part-comic by the great artist Hugault, and on the title of the second one is a SPAD. As always he got those details very correct so this gives a nice hint.

@bughunter... I actually own those comics 🤣🤣 and I photographed a real spad xiii in Brussels. Of course by that time the aircraft was finished
