Album image #3
Cockpit painted and glued in postion. Ready to close the fuselage.

Album image #4
Same process as with the white one - cutting the vacu canopy in shape and cutting away fuselage sections to make up space for the resin replacement - a "turtel" upper deck with spine.

Album image #5
Unfortunattly I figured out late that in the resin kit I used here there was a second pilot seat and radio-set cover included instead of the expected clipped wing-tips.

Album image #6
So a little unexpected scratch work was needed.

Album image #7
Sanding the clipped wing in shape

Album image #8
On lower wing side I needed grinder support to get the thing in shape.

Album image #9
Removed the guns and started to fill ports and panel lines

Album image #10
Assembly work finished & pitot istalled - ready for the paint-shop.

Album image #11
White primer from Ultimate is applied to identify issues on the surface. On this one I need rework here and there - e.g. the resin cockpit surface do not properly transit into the fuselage. Attitional sanding and somemore putty is needed. After that the bird will be ready for the black top-coat.

Before I can complete the model....

Album image #18
I have to do some more adjustments....

Album image #19
....on the black '74 the nose cone was modified....

Album image #20
...from the original MustangP51-D shape into something more "dart"-like.

Album image #21
Done also with the Black 34 of Mr. Burnstines Racer Mustangs.

Started also number two of my civilian Mustangs. One of the first "modified" Mustangs at Reno Air Race. The 1974 Miss Foxy Lady from Kenny Bernstine. I build the plane model twin from 1975 in parallel. See P51-Mustang (Foxy Lady #34 White - @RenoAirRace '75) | Album by jott (1:72)

Great build ! These air racers are a thing of beauty. On a side note, this year is the last Reno air race at its current location, after 6 decades. A search is on for a new location.

Thank you gents for your nice comments.
@john - thx for the note. unfortunatlly bad news,...Some may argue against airshows and races (for various (and sometimes valid) reasons) - but I would miss this events. Hope they find a new place.
