Thanks for those generous comments EnsignExpendabl and Bruce. For the rifles I use a basecoat of AK3033 light sand (I find it better than the wood base AK779 from their wood set). Then I use the two wood grain paints from that set as a wash rather tha trying to achieve a solid colour - AK780 then AK781. The metal work is any satin black followed by a drybrush of a steel oil-colour. Needless to say the straps on the Lee Enfields and the PIAT are good-old Tamiya tape.
