F-15E Strike Eagle - work in progress-
For the beginning a little overview...
Started with the cockpit section, fit looks very good so far.
I removed all the structures to make space for the etched parts.
There are no clear parts for the anti collision lights, so some extra work is necessary.
Ramps from the air intakes were cut off as I will install the intakes 11° lowered.
The three main parts of the fuselage fit very well.
Only small gaps need some attention.
Weak details on the Vulcan gun also need to improved.
Selfmade HUD from a copper rod and some clear plastic card.
The lower edges of the air inlets are way to thick.
After a first bit of sanding the starboard inlet looks much better.
The kit shows two stiffeners on the tailplanes. These are also way to massive and need to be sanded down as well.
Added the decals for the area behind the intakes.
The Twobobs decals are great, as thin as possible and very good to handle.
The pylons are added now already, the fit was very nice here.
Same issue as on the wings, the trailing edges are way to thick. ...and as on the whole airframe, there are also no clear parts for the two little lights here.
The kits nose is blunt, I replaced it with a 1mm steel pin.
Added a frame for the adf antenna made from tape and glue.
First layer of Gunze H-305 is done.
I painted the countermeasure dispenser as seen on some inflight pics and used the decals from the kit.
Some wires were added to the landing gears and the landing/taxi lights were drilled out and filled with UV-Resine
Finished the AIM-120B and AIM-9L

Last parts to add were the three antennas underneath the cockpit.

Daniel MysakOne weak point of the new Revell F-15E is the wings trailing edge. It´s about 1mm thick *-) . So I sanded it down and replaced the fuel jittison pipe.

Daniel MysakDid some steps forward, the main fuselage parts are already joined and the fit was very good.

Daniel MysakAs a preparation for the lowered intakes, I painted the fuselage to place the decals which will be later hidden by the intakes.

AlexanderAgreed, cockpit looks nice as all the little scratch building in general. Seems like this kit is not that easy (typical of Revell) but your build shows great progress! 👍

Daniel MysakThanks mate! Yes, where there is light, there is also shadow, especially at Revell. Unfortunately, there are some bugs that shouldn't appear on a 2021 or 2022 tool.

AlexanderThe steel pin is a nice solution. Did you sand it too to get it to a conical shape or was it that way already?

@Alexander It already has this shape, it is a kind of nail for certain applications. I only sanded it a bit to blend in with the shape of the nose.

@Alexander I have absolout no clue, I found them in the basement of my grqandfathers house, can´t even say how old they are, probably older than me 🙂. Maybee the are kind of nails for wooden skirtings ore something, at least the have no head.

Daniel MysakDue to my own fault I had to fill and sand at the stabilizers again. There is no visible panelline on the real aircraft between them and the fuselage.
