Phantom WIP
I've missed Tamiya's magical fit
The washed grey is way darker than the Quinta decals...
I guess it looks alright in the tub?
The only few seams which require sanding
Intake parts
Interior washed with AK Landing Gear Wash
Installed to the fuselage
Completing the fuselage
Bad polishing cloth can lead to ton of scratches regardless of the compound used
Good enough
Hand painting
More hand painting and dry brushing
Cockpit mock fit
Backseat instruments
Cockpit complete
Three types of masking
Ready for priming
Clear blue and brown dots
Underside done!
Free-handing the edge
Looking okay so far
First time trying post shading the salt stains
Happy with the result
The metal stencil scratched a spot on the left wing
Gloss black as base for metallic
Masked off for Mr. Color Steel, on top of SM205 plus XF-56
Mask off
Clear orange
Blended with clear black
With horizontals
Steel
Nozzles dry brushed with silver
Rear section done
Gloss clear
Working with Tamiya decal is a bit if a pain…
Damn it
Priming the remaining small parts
Decals done, doing the Sundowner Phantom without the stencils was the right call
Diluted white+neutral grey for more fading effects
Diluted black+brown for grimes
Washed
First wash
Underside panels installed
After 2 washes
Fluid leaks
Blended white oil paints for more variations
Masks off after super smooth clear
Waxed the canopy
Hand painting the seats

Test shot
Putting the stripes on will make them AIM-7E2… I ain’t got time for that
Installing clear parts

Harry, I switched my metal stencils with 77propeller plastic ones, they conform to the surface nicer and don't scratch 👍
