Beautiful cockpit!

Hobby Boss delivers seats without harness (to be honest: with two very thin lines of cast-on seatbelts) so I tried to make a more realistic look with seatbelts made of metal foil.
In the next steps, the cockpits of the two Yaks will be closed and the fuselage halves will be glued.

Metal foil is a good choice for the belt.
I often use it, mainly lead foil, to realize safety belts on my models: aircrafts of race cars😉
That's what I used for the 312PB "recently"...
I will follow your Forger with interest 👍

Thank you very much for your words and interest Pascal!
I think the material for the Forgers seatbelt was once wraped around the neck of a bottle of champagne 🙂

Well, as I'm living near Bordeaux.... I have few lead foils from Wine bottles😉

To your health, Pascal! 🙂
A few steps further with the fuselage... the odd look of the two seat-versions is obvious from the start on!

My Yak is slowly taking shape... The air ducts on the fuselage have to be attached seperately, that´s good because they can be drilled out easily before gluing.
Some more fine tuning of the surfaces, then the preshading can start.

preshading has been done, also the wheel bays and various air intakes have been sprayed with the appropriate colour.
The landing gear struts have just been equipped with some brake lines, this will be detailed further.

Looking good! Something else to watch.

Thank you for your interest- I am quite curious what it will look like!🙂

Some minor sanding was required after glueing of the air intakes- the kit shows some fitting problems on these parts. With a little surgery this problem is easily solved.
By now the Yak`s decaling is being finished....

The surfaces are nearly finished, but the gloss level will be dimmed just a little bit with Gunze clear flat...

Weird looking plane, but you're turning it into a beauty as usual!

That is coming along nicely Roland. Somewhere in the stash is the 1/72 A Model version. I hope it will be as easy a build as this!

Thank you both for your kind words! It was defintily a rather easy build, even if one of the last steps proved to be difficult: fit of the canopies was rather bad, so I had to carafully sand the clear parts into shape.
Not much to do to finish this project: I have to clue the missile launchers into place and fix the last part of the landing gear fairing...

Die Forger ist zwar ein ziemlich häßliches Flugzeug, was man aber von Deinem Modell wirklich nicht behaupten kann. Sauber gebaut und lackiert. Gefällt mir.

Hello Stefan and Michel, thank you very much for your words and interest!
You can see some final photos of the finished "Yak-38U" project. The last building steps did not show any further problem or difficulty. The antennas in front of the cockpit have been made by stretched sprue after the original parts- much too heavy in my opinion- had to make place for the sanding paper.
After all, I can recommend this fine HB kit to anybody interested in that odd and unique aircraft!

Thank you guys! And now on to the one-seater... 🙂
For this I got the R-60 "Aphid" missile "Brassin" set from Eduard; I wonder what it will look like!
