Had to remove the pitot tube on the tail... after painting it perfectly.. DOH.

Do over. But the removal of the pitot tube is clean. Paint it again. 1) ALC-309 2) Polished Aluminum ALC-105 3) Testors Gloss Dark Red (1104).

Album image #8
Repainted the ALC-309.

Album image #9
Buffed/sanded with 2000 grit Tamiya paper and cotton cloth. Allowed to dry overnight.

Album image #10
Sprayed ALC-105 Polished Aluminum, buffed with clean cotton cloth. Allowed to dry overnight.

Album image #11
First coat. Going to let it dry for a couple of hours before buffing with a cotton cloth. Then add the second coat.

Album image #12
Second coat on. Now to dry overnight! Actually dried two days.

Album image #13
It's what I used.

Album image #14
Coated with ALC 600 Aqua Gloss Clear. Went on okay. Seems like I lost a little luster from the gloss finish of the testors paint.

Thanks! Trying to decide on a gloss coat for the tail. Alclad gloss (ALC 600)? Vallejo Polyurethane Gloss Varnish (27.650)? Metalizer Sealer? Mr. Color Gloss? Any thoughts?

I love tamiya gloss, but hate the tiny bottles 🙂

I used Testors gloss dark red over alclad. I think it makes a pretty nice color overall. But yes, the bottles are pretty small.

Time to add the stiffeners to the wings and fuselage. The wing panels are pretty easy but the stiffeners on the fuselage spine are kinda tough to bend the right way. I think it's working though.
