Noticed a effect while uploading some pictures, add some to a existing gallery.
- Used the browser file dialog, click on the first, shift click on the last.
- in the small upload area the order looks ok.
- if I go to Manage the first picture is always the last one?! (the oder of the others is ok)
- I moved the last one up (5 steps to the first position of the new pictures), added description
- Viewed the album, wrong order?! The last pictures was moved into the older pictures (it seems it was still somehow on the first position?, only displayed wrong in the "Manage" list?).
I hope, that my description is clear enough 😉
Thank you!
Cheers, Frank

can you let me know the names of the original images?

it should use that to define the order

The names are G00axle.jpg, G01axle.jpg, G02axle.jpg and so on. G00 was the last one, not in Upload, but in Manage.

I have done the next update today, with H00, H01 and so on. Again the H00 was not the first one, but also not the last, but I have to move it again up some positions. May be a timing problem.

The problem is still there and the annoying thing is, that the real order is different to that one displayed in "Manage". That means: if I move the first picture from the end to the correct position, it is later located much further within the old pictures?!
a. Upload in order C00 C01 C02 C03
b. display in Manage: C01 C02 C03 C00
c. tried a refresh, C00 still at the end
d. moved C00 up before C01
e. Noticed later, that C00 was within the Bxx pictures, so it looks like it was correct in DB, but not in Manage (so moved form the correct position upwards in the list)
Hope, this detailed description helps.

I came across the same problem yesterday, the newly uploaded picture was suddenly moved up the line several positions.

I noticed the same thing with the last 3 times I added photos to an album - images are not in the same position when managing the album versus viewing the album and require additional moving to put them in the correct sequence. Indeed "annoying".

Not marking this as fixed yet.... But I fixed 2 issues which could lead to timing issues...

I did some testing and was not able to break it.... please let me know as soon as you see something strange again

thank you for your patience

Tim, that was a perfect timing, as I wanted to upload a new batch of pictures this evening. For me it was working today 👍 The first picture was no more the last one.

This may be related : today when I wanted to move a picture a few ranks down a list and also deleted another picture, the picture moved was then moved all the way down.
I moved it back up refreshing the list regularly (and not doing anything else at the same time) and it worked.

This is still F'd up. New photos added to an album and moved to specific positions for maintaining a sequence are still in a different location when viewing the album versus managing the album. They're needing to be managed twice in order for their specified positions to "stick" where they're intended to be.

Indeed, it still seems to need the moving done independntly of other management features (like comments), otherwise they moved pictures end up in random places.

I have the same "problem" several times while uploaded my galeries.
for example i upload all 10 pictures while creating a new album. select them all and click upload.
In my opinion, while uploading all of them at the same time, the pictures are in the order as the upload from each picture is finished.
Also i think the filename it doesn't matter.
I always use "manage" and pick it in the order i would like it, push always the save button for each picture i moved.
when refreshing the album, i have do that proceed again, sometimes two or three times.

I'll have a look....just make sure when you report you let me know if you see an issue with part 1 or part 2...

Part 1
Uploading images should be in the order you selected them in the file selector.

Filename does NOT matter

The order is(should be ) defined when it started.... (normally you should see them starting in the order you selected them)

So if you select 3, 1, 2, 4.... you should see 3, 1, 2, 4 in the initial upload UI. And in manage albums/view they should be 3, 1, 2, 4

This is part 1....

If you see a problem with part 1,.... please don't change anything and let me look at the album

I tested this with 4, 10, 20 images and it worked.... that said, I might test it in a certain way which is not what others do => I'll fix

Part 2
Part 2 is what happens if you click up/down in "Manage albums" to change the order...(eg. on an album which is 2 years old)

I do not think the order in which you select multiple files in the selection dialog (browse for files) should set the sequence of images in an album. That is not how standard file browsers work - you select the files you want to upload, in any order, and then all files selected are added (alphabetically within the range) to the end of the list. If you want multiple files added in a specific order non-alphabetically, you upload them individually instead of as a batch.

The problem is AFTER images have been uploaded and they are appearing in specific positions (either as a result of the upload or as a result of the user manually moving with Manage), images are not in the same positions as they were when managing the album.

For example, I upload image A. I expect it to be at the end of the image list. It is not. So I click Manage to manage the album. I find image A and use Move Up or Move Down to put it in the correct position. I view the album and image A is not shown where it was moved to. I click Manage again and sure enough, the image is not where it was moved to. Move Up or Move Down is done again to put the image where intended, and now it's in the correct spot when viewing the album.

It typically takes me doing Manage at least twice in order for moved images to be where they were specified. There seems to be a disconnect between what you see when managing an album versus what you see when viewing the album, until you've managed the album more than once.

first simple problems first

1) you have an existing album with X images
2) you upload 1 image (whatever name)
3) It is at position X+1 (last)?

if not, where is it?
- is it not visible at all?
- is it in the wrong position?

Please share the album (and don't try fixing it)... I want to see the image in the wrong position

I tried this 100 times in 4 different browsers and can not reproduce. Unless we talk about different things. We need to sort the basics first, if adding 1 image is not in the right position, this is what we need to look at first.

I was able to reproduce! Let me check

In my case, new uploaded images would appear at the end of the list, but when I would move them in another place AND change comments (for example) at the same time, then they would move to odd positions.
When only moving them, they would stay in the right position.

Same here, new photos (usually) appear at the end - but not always - then select Manage after uploading, move it/them into the wanted position(s), set a new Teaser image, and add comments for the new photos and click Save for each comment added. Then when viewing the album, the new photos aren't where they're supposed to be. Click Manage again to move the images again (this time without adding comments since they've already been added) and then the images are where they're supposed to be. So maybe the positioning issue is related to when photos are moved AND comments added/edited at the same time.

I think I found the issue...ping me as soon as it happens again.

If so please provide the link to the album
