Cool! (love the gun on the bench too 😄 )where can you get those mats printed?

Hi Wim! I work at a print shop in Saskatoon, SK, Canada. We have a flat-bed printer that can do 6-colour (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, white and clear gloss). The vehicle images were supplied by my good friend, George Bradford. I just decided one day to try one here at work, and this is what I used. Of course these are only low-res jpgs. The real deal is high-def pdfs.

[img1] Well done Sir! Too bad you´re living in Canada.... so shipping such a Mat would cost very much more than a mat itself....

Pretty profitable business there if you wanted to get your boss to try selling them as a test. I'd take a few if you went ahead and printed some!

Nice Kar98! I have one in my modeling cave as well 🙂

These mats look badass. Do you print every mat with the image the customer wants or is there a catalogue? 😛

Florian, if we get enough people together here, we could share shipping costs 😄

@ Rene: sounds good! ^^

Yep. But we'd need a bunch of people. Shipping fee becomes insane above 2kg!😄

Those look great, Ken! Need a couple "airplane themed" ones though...

Thanks for the comments guys! The company I work for is a custom printer so any image goes! I am currently trying the colour image box art from a Tiger 1 (Ryfield, I believe). When I get that done, I will post the results! Thanks again for the comments...stay tuned!

A few doors over... You guys seem to have another definition of Neighborhood😄
I'm seriously considering one or two mats myself😛
But do you know which postal service in canada ships to germany for an acceptable price? 🤔

Ken...if you could do these in car scales, 1/20, 1/24, 1/25, I could see a couple making thier way to Nova Scotia!

Peter Hardy
Made to order and a standard range? Sounds like a business proposal to me.
Rene, Rich Rene, you can afford the postage!

Rene Scheiblich
Rich? Who told you that? That guy was a filthy liar😛
Spent it all on kits and my compressor mate 😉
First search with the Canada Post gave me a whopping 100$ for a DIN A3 mat 😄

Courier then? DHL? Buy 500 and then become the European Distributor. Think big Rene!

A nice, comfy onlineshop for modeling accessories. Why not. Would be more relaxed than my usual dayjob I'd wager 😄
But I think Ken might be in over his head if he does the printing after-hours 🤔 😉
Typical colours... Nice idea. One PzKpfw III Ausf L on RAL8000 Grünbraun background please 😛

Hi everyone! I'm still trying to book some time on our flatbed printer to test the colour mat out. We have been slammed with regular work. I'm hoping to have the colour test done for Monday or Tuesday.
@Logan Management is still trying to source a manufacturer for the blank mats. Stay tuned
@Florian and @Rene Can you imagine the controversy that would start if I did them in colours?! I bet there would be a flame war over what RAL 8000 should be, or even if the 4BO has too much olive to it! Hah, hah!

Uuuh yeah I didn't consider that!😄
Black is fine then. But not too blue-ish!😛

Black works for me too! See what design you come up with first. Anything armour works for me!!!

OK, I have done the colour test and everything looks REALLY awesome! This means anyone who has a colour pic that they want on a mat can do so. I am most impressed with our UV white ink. Not a hint of green on the snow sections of the mat. Now I just need management to decide what to charge for imprinting. The company I work for is also trying to source different colour blank mats as well. I will keep everyone in the loop as I get more info. I am currently working on a few more scale charts, especially for the car guys!

Hey Ken.....any more news/progress on these mats? Haven't seen anything for awhile.

Hi Mike. My company shelved the idea as there was not enough interest to generate revenue. I'm a little bummed about it, but it was their decision and I have to live with it. Sorry if I got everyone's hopes up.

Yeah, that is a bummer. Seemed like a great idea to me.
