Is there a section where we can report an affiliate vendor? I ordered several kits from modelhobbies.co.uk and did not receive them and had very little in the way of communication with the vendor. After a search, it seems there are a great many people who have experienced the same problem I have. Usually I'm a little more careful in making my online purchases, but as a scalemates affiliate, I felt a (false) sense of security...

Hello Greg. Can you email me on sales@modelhobbies.co.uk and I am sure we can resolve for you. Thanks, Nick, Model Hobbies.

Tim once said that's nothing more or less than paid advertising.

Hello Greg. Ignore that I've found the order. I have arranged for a replacement package to be sent to you.

I also had problems with Modelhobbies in the past. I hope that ModelHobbies solve yours, Greg.

Well it seems there are a few people that have had problems.

Whilst they are good on price, their customer service is appalling. I have had several bad experiences. A major issue is their website. It falsely reports items as being in stock when they are not so they get placed on back-order but nobody at Model Hobbies bothers to tell you 🙁 The only contact I have had any success with getting things sorted is Danielle. Thanks Dave. That does seem to be the problem. Which is strange. Back orders, re-orders, etc. Are normal and understandable. But saying something has shipped when it clearly has not and then playing games to bide for time until it is in stock is just dishonest.

I'm still waiting on four kits that failed to arrive 🙁 I hope Danielle gets it sorted for you 🙂

Well, they finally arrived today. Looks like three kit boxes were just tossed into a cardboard box, taped shut and sent out the door... no packing protection of any kind. The boxes are all rumpled, but at least the contents seem okay. Hope you get yours Dave.

I'm glad you finally received it, Greg. Maybe we should give a vote of confidence to Modelhobbies, even though the kits boxes did not arrive in good condition.
28 November 2017, 19:37

Yeah. The shipping date on the box was November 13... so another week after my initial post (which makes the other two weeks for shipping normal speed). I believe they will eventually fill orders, but just not quickly (or when they tell you they have) and not in great condition, and don't expect any customer service.

Good luck! To add salt on the wound though, I discovered that I mis-ordered the 1937 Opel Olympia instead of the 1938 that I intended to. I wish I could blame ModelHobbies for that one... but it's all on me.

I've been using them for years and yes just this year I've had problems. Kits not included with rest of order, another substituted. Most usually sorted eventually. I'm currently waiting for one which was allegedly posted on the 16th October. I was told that it would be due October 22-29, which is absurd given that the average time for postage from the UK is a fortnight. It's now November 30 and I'm still waiting.

I wonder if something changed recently? I ordered a kit from them a little over a year ago, arrived no problem... so I wasn't prepared for any issues? Just out of curiosity, have the people who've had problems ordered off their website directly, or via eBay? I've heard that the eBay feedback system keeps them more focused as a mass of red negative feedbacks will likely hurt their sizeable online business model. I ordered off the website, and didn't really get much of a reply until I took my plight to the the masses here at Scalemates.

In my case, the most recent one was ordered off E-bay. But ,yes, I think something has changed recently.

I had problems in Modelhobbies online store. Ever I usually bought in eBay and never had problems. I compare stock in online store with eBay. If there are stock as much eBay as online store, I buy in Modelhobbies site. If there isn't stock in eBay I don't purchase in Modelhobbies online store although there is stock in Modelhobbies online store. Sorry for my bad english.

My eBay problem is now sorted. I'm pretty sure hat they don't keep everything on-site but order in on receipt of order which can lead to problems with out of stock at manufacturers
