Dear Scalemates team, is there an API available to fill your stash from an excel file, or to download your stash? It would be very useful to, to reference a given model to your page so the users can reach you without the incomodity of copying and pasting the URL.
Best Regards

you can download your stash (wishlist, etc) to pdf, excel and text format. there is no option to upload to fill your stash (I have seen that been asked before, but that probably will have a considerable risk and our webmaster will not go that way). you can add stuff to your stash by scanning the codes with your phone

to download stash, go to your stash, and look for download options at the bottom of the page

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply. I totally understand that there are manual ways to achieve some of the things I'm looking for. That said, I'm hoping to find a more automated solution—ideally something that could integrate Scalemates with other tools I use.

I completely get your concerns around security and potential misuse. Just to share a thought—there are some common practices like API keys, OAuth/JWT tokens, rate limiting, or throttling that can help mitigate those risks. And of course, I truly appreciate that this is a free service, so I'm not looking to ask for the moon here. Again, thanks a lot for taking the time to answer.

Your stash is available via CSV

Automating uploads don't work, tried that in the early days and assuming that your data matches our data

Eg. Hobbyboss, hobby-boss, Hobby boss.
Revell, Revell of Germany, Monogram

Same for product numbers. Duplicate numbers exist, wrong info exists

It results in more time validating and fixing exceptions

Dear Scalemates team:

First, thank you again for your fantastic service to the modelling community. Scalemates is an invaluable resource and a must-visit site for any modeller, and we genuinely appreciate the work you put into maintaining it and making it freely available.

I fully understand the complexity of the issue you've described around automating uploads. Dealing with inconsistent brand names, duplicate product numbers, and incorrect data is not a trivial challenge. It makes perfect sense that early attempts at automation created more work than they saved.

That said, I wonder if a more robust solution could help strike a better balance between automation and data integrity. For example:

Normalization Service: A shared /normalize endpoint could centralize the logic for mapping brands and product numbers, ensuring both parties use the same source of truth.

Feedback Loop: If consumers could report unknown or mismatched entries, this could help improve the dictionary over time.

Fuzzy Matching + Manual Review: High-confidence matches could be handled automatically, while ambiguous cases get flagged for manual validation.

Versioned Dictionaries: This would ensure stability while still allowing regular updates and improvements.

I completely respect that any such change would take effort and coordination, but I wanted to share these thoughts in case they might help frame a path forward. Thanks again for everything you do — your platform is a cornerstone of the modelling hobby.

Warm regards,

Alex
