This kit is a masterpice. Although it´s from 1997 the surface details are awsome, engineereing is more than clever. Almost impossible to do something wrong here. Nevertheless I´ve choosen some upgrades... fitting them is not that easy, but doable with some carefull drilling and sanding.

Hi Fabian, I´m in. Have the same kit in my stash with the same tracks, Pe´s, canon and machine gun. Still need the antenna. This is really a masterpiece from Tamiya.

I am with Fabian on this one. A great, great kit 🙂 Everyone should build one.

Indeed, even ooB it would be impressive. Although I´ve scartched the handles on the engine deck, you could leave most of them just as they are. Most of the handles were ment to be moveable, hence most of them would dissapear in though the engine deck. And that´s what you get with Tamiya, a bit broring to look at, but not really incorrect.
@Acki: not shure if you really need the Antennas, Eduard has a PE part for the basket wich is way easier to use. The RB version seems to be a small challenge...

Thanks guys, I think as I´m having quite fun, it isn´t too difficult to please you😉
Spend the evening (and night) with some detail work, mostly PE.

Is anyone aware of a close match to the british olive drab? Most likely Tamiya or Revell, as there is a chance I can get some of them this weekend... Not really shure if I really want to mix as suggested in the instructions...

I have this model in my stash and your build is bringing me closer to starting it.

@Dave: I´t a fantastic kit, one of the best I´ve ever build. You might want to add some aftermarket or simply "enjoy" it, both works great.
Had some trouble with the tracks, they were simply falling apart. I had glued them with Tamiya Extra Thin, but it seems I should have used good old Revell. Might work better on them...

I agree. One of the best kits of the universe.

I've got some Miniart tank riders and plenty of stowage but I've not decided on whether to use any etch on it yet.

Well, not shure if you really need the PE. It might look better in some spots, although the overal improvement isn´t that obvious. Apart from the mesh screens, tool clamps and smaller hooks and fittings a lot of the Eduard set is meant for a polish version or needed for the turret boxes. (which I both haven´t used.)
But can recomend the RB gun barrel and some replacement MGs.
All in all the aftermarket wasn´t too expensive, the whole pack with the kit was still chaeper than a standard Dragon kit. 😉

Alright, little over a year later I came around painting the kit... I plan to finish it till the end of the year.😉
Thanks for the encouragement Matthias and Bernd.

Nicely done Mate. I like the subtle weathering. Well done. 👍

How did you get the decal to wrap around the fan cover so well?

Thanks guys.
The decal is split in ring and star, hence it´s easier to apply. I placed the ring frist and let it cure over night. Placed the star and used plenty of decal softener. Let it settle for a few minutes and made some cuts so the decal could adhere to the surface. Filled the gaps with white paint. (Disclaimer: it looks pretty messy close up😉 )
