The Britmodeller link is for the 1:72 version. This mistake made me buy an antique kit with raised panels. I'm quite angry about that.
11. February 2019, 18:13
Carlos Cisneros
In 1/48 that's all that there is to pick from. Monogram with the G and Revell with the F. Both are 1970s vintage. Everything out there today is a rebox of one or the other.
11. February 2019, 19:21
Selman Yarar
That's ok, what i wanted to point out is that the page contains a wrong review link.
11. February 2019, 19:28
Selman Yarar
Maybe the source of that mistake is that the 48th kit is numbered 04297 and de 72th one 04279 which is veery similar???
11. February 2019, 19:30
Carlos Cisneros
Ahhhhh... possibly a case of the fingers typing faster than they should...
12. February 2019, 17:26
Wim van der Luijt
followed the link....the first thing I see is 1:72 on the box art, yes the link is wrong, but it is also very obvious....have you reported the wrong link?
12. February 2019, 18:54
Selman Yarar
Yes, i did
13. February 2019, 09:21
Warren Inman
Now you have the choice of a new-mould one.
25. November 2019, 00:55
Soeren .
Not really, if you mean the HKM kit, which is a G and not a F ;), but the chances that a F will follow are quite high
25. November 2019, 06:09
Warren Inman
You are correct.

1978 garbage with raised panel lines :(
23. February 2017, 09:52

But for a 1/48 B-17 it's pretty much the only game in town. And cheap.
23. February 2017, 10:06
playtime 222
Can't argue with that, Gorby. Jbm is new to this gig and this would be a pig of a build.
23. February 2017, 10:24

Hasegawa and Monogram also do 1/48. Or is the Monogram kit the Revell tool or the other way around?
23. February 2017, 10:41
playtime 222
From the full product timeline (click on the 1978 New Tool to see the whole picture not just the 2 entries), it's based on the 1975 Monogram. The Revell is supposed to have less internal details than the Monogram too. Hence, I'm inferring raised panel lines and poor fit from the reviews of the earlier boxings. I know there are several 'New Part' versions after this which may have corrected some of it but I doubt it.
23. February 2017, 11:25
gorbygould
It looks like the Hasegawa is also from the original Monogram tooling, also, I have never seen one for sale.

Plenty at Hannants and the AviationMegastore... if you can afford to shop there :D
23. February 2017, 15:01
gorbygould
The answer to that Playtime is 'No',
23. February 2017, 15:04
wilky
I won't buy from Hannants. They have a minimum spend for Australian buyers and gouge on shipping. I have purchased from Aviationmegastore but they are expensive too, they have stuff that I can't seem to source elsewhere
23. February 2017, 18:06
Warren Inman
Why is it garbage just because it has raised panel lines? Are they any less accurate that the idiotically huge engraved ones they use nowadays? Look at an aircraft from ten or so metres away and they mostly disappear anyway.
25. November 2019, 00:56
Carlos Cisneros
Not to mention that real B-17s had overlapping skin panels, and raised rivets. Recessed panel lines representing butt joined skin panels, and recessed rivets replicating flush rivets are more inaccurate. Raised panel lines look more like overlapping skin panel lines.
Granted that the old Monogram molds are getting old and soft in detail after more than 40 years of usage. But if you can get your hands on an older issue kit, the detail will be much more crisp.

Can anyone confirm that this is a rebox of their former offering?
10. March 2012, 10:25

Holger, as far as I know I've bought the " old one ", concernig on the box art, but there seems to be a recent reissue..
