Album image #1
Desk cleaned up and we are ready to rock and roll!

Album image #2
Bags of parts, decals, and some wires, springs, and cables

Album image #3
Nice smoked glass element

Album image #4
Bits and pieces

Album image #5
Sensor unit assembled but those rough seam lines will need to get rubbed out so it appears as one seamless form. This is the same form as here: Krachenvogel FNS465 Build | Album by grabius (1:20)

Album image #10
Conducting a few paint color tests while the sensor unit dries. I'll be going with 1 part Vallejo Refractive Green to 1 part Vallejo Basalt Grey. This is going to be a very weathered build so it will get washed a lot in various dirty filters.

Album image #11
Sanding out seams first with 220 grit sandpaper

Album image #12
Filling in some gaps with Tamiya Putty Basic Type

Album image #13
Sanding out the putty and seams

Album image #14
Attaching little bits and pieces to the sensor tower...

Album image #15
Album image #16
Slopping on thinned Vallejo Model Color Sky Gray for a cloudy look. This is a base coat that will soon get grey-green on top

Album image #17
Album image #18
Now for a thinned out application of grey and green mixed together and rather slapped on to create this mottled look

Album image #19
Clipping, sanding, connecting, cleaning, and drying parts

Album image #20
Masking what will be a orange band

Album image #21
And decorative orange band painted!

Album image #22
Sample of a completed body paint job. Applied thick and liquid to give it that textured look

Album image #23
Rockets attached

Album image #24
Cavity of searchlight painted chrome with lens placed over. This departs from the directions that would have you cover it with a slotted cap but I prefer seeing the brightness of the shiny light!

Album image #25
Dirtying up the lens with some Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color Brown

Album image #26
Gas tanks attached

Album image #27
Transmission armor and part of the engine painted and assembled.

Album image #28
Engines attached and springs installed. Decals, too!

Album image #29
Too small to fill?

Album image #30
Nah.

Album image #31
Lots of clipping, sanding, priming, painting, detailing, varnishing, weathering

Album image #32
Detail of a shock painted grey then applied Molotow chrome pen to the spring and weathered with a black filter wash.

Hello and welcome to the build. After recently completing the Krachenvogel FNS465 | Project by grabius (1:20) , I was keen to dig deeper into the Maschinen Krieger universe by building this interesting fellow. You'll note the "head" is a nearly-identical shape. But those two legs are new! Looking forward to digging into it and chatting with you all along the way.

Hi TWN ! Good seeing you again! This one will not have the LED treatment. Just a straight build without electronics...

In my opinion, it also does not always have to be electronics, a nice classic oob is always a beautiful thing 😉

I keep an eye on it.... 🧐 🤩

This is going to be a very weathered and beaten machine so smooth application of paint is not my concern. Ahhh to be freed! After coming off of my most recent project - Nissan Fairlady 240ZG Build | Album by grabius (1:24) - where I focused on smooth, brushless painting, this sloppy style will be a release.

Now that I've finished my build, I can enjoy watching your cool build more closely.. 🧐

Ma.k's don't have to be shinny..😁

That's right, Markus Kutsch ! I've appreciated not having to use any gloss anywhere!

Getting very close to the end of this build! I'm working carefully and methodically to refine each part no matter how small.

All done! The model was a blast to build and came together very easily. Parts needed a lot of sanding to remove seam lines and fill mars but nothing out of the ordinary for a (non-Tamiya) kit. I'm happy with how the weathering and dirt washes came out. All acrylic brush painting. Well, thanks for following along and see you on the next build!

Wow, awesome work, Peter! 👍
With the shape of the body I get why it is called Gans now. 😄

Well done Gans! 👍 Btw are the legs turned around on purpose?

Nice, very nice 👍. Like your style of weathering 🙂
Is the shock absorber in picture 32 the same as the shock absorber seen in picture 33? If so, that's definitely a improvement.
3 March 2022, 09:30
Peter G
FinUhu : Good eye! I thought the legs looked better in that arrangement.
3 March 2022, 12:15
Peter G
lexjassies : So it turns out that Wave (maker of the kit) included more realistic shock absorbers and I needlessly painted the ones that are all plastic. I agree, it's a major improvement. Maybe I can use the painted shocks on a future build.

WhiteGlint , ah! I didn't know that "gans" means "goose" until your post. Thanks! You are spot on.
