Just starting on the rebuilding and painting. Feet first. Since these mecha are supposed to be a mix of machine and orga...

45?!?! That's almost three times as long as I've been alive! No wonder you're so good at models! Thanks for the advice, and I'll be sure to look up those guys on Youtube.

Yeah, I am really old 🙂. I started building models when I was 11 or 12 years old. I used to build tank kits with my Dad and brother. My Dad always encouraged me to do my best at everything, including model building. It was good advice that has helped me a lot. You can't always be the best at everything you do, but you can always do your best. Keep building and having fun. Post some photos, ask for advice, take some helpful criticism - all these things will help you get better.

Had a short hiatus due to sunny weather keeping me outside. I will post some more photos soon. Thanks for the interest!

Lucky! Where I live, we have wet, dreary winters followed by about a two-week period where the weather is perfect. Cool breezes, beautiful sunsets, and the scent of flowers in the air... But once those two weeks are over, it gets hot! And humid! Average high of 93 degrees with a dewpoint of 75! (I live just outside of Charleston, SC btw)

Super cool and very unusual! 👍

Thanks! Except for all the rebuilding I had to do, it was a great kit to build, and has really nice detailing. What can I say, I love the weird kits 🙂.

Holy Guacamole Batman! This looks like it hopped out of the Anime and into real life!

I found this website if you need some references!

Thanks again for the compliments, they are much appreciated. And thanks for that website link, Starship Trooper. I tried to buy as many of the Orguss series kits as I could find, but they are pretty rare it seems. Might be easier to find in Japan, or maybe they will get reissued 🤞🏼. I really like building the anime kits from the 1980s, as they take a little TLC to look good.

Unsusual design, like it 👍

I seriously doubt that the Orguss kits will be reissued, but there is another option! In the 1980s, Revell imported a punch of robot model kits (Dougram, Macross, Orguss, etc.) under the line 'Robotech'. This Robotech model-kit line has no relation to the TV show by Harmony Gold of the same name, other than the logo. Maybe instead of searching for 'Orguss Kits' on eBay, search 'Robotech Kits'. There is a chance that the Orguss-derived kits will show up!

Thanks for the tip. I do have one of the Robotech kits - the Eyevan robot transporter. I think this Ishforn was called the Exaxes in the Robotech line?

Yes, to my knowledge the Ishforn was brought over to the U.S. as Exaxes.

Have to love the "clown shoes" on this kit ?. I don't think they were this big in the anime, so maybe the kit needs them...

Minor changes to this kit - new "manipulators" made of sheet styrene, leg pipes from braided fabric wire covering and wire in arms to allow for flexibility.

Thanks! Ideon mecha are so different from other series. A few tripod mechs, and some weird looking spaceships. I have about a dozen to build still 😳. Better get at it.

Woah! A half-dozen?!?! Where on earth do you get these kits? I've seen them go on eBay for 30-70 USD each! I would like to get my grubby mitts on some of these fine kits, but I refuse to pay those outrageous prices. Oh well...

Starship Trooper, I bought them when eBay was first starting out, and it was just people like you and I thinning out their collections. No stores selling on there at all. I picked up a lot of kits for really cheap. Hasegawa rally car kits for $10 - $15 each, some of the anime kits were in the same price range. I tried to keep each kit price below $25 before shipping. The good old days, I guess.

I will get some up soon. The kit was butchered when I bought it, and I had to rebuild a lot of the "cockpit sides" with sheet styrene and milliput. Thanks for asking!

The design is uncommon, nice build 👍
