I just wanted to share something with you, and see what you guys think. I am starting a very old kit (Airfix F-14A, kit 05013) that I bought in 1983 (!). After opening the sealed bag and checking the contents, I realised there is a part missing.

I also noticed Airfix still sells the Top Gun Maverick's Tomcat (kit nr. A00503) which according to Scalemates, shares the same tool and includes the same part that is missing in mine. I contacted Airfix spares department and asked them very politely, on Sunday, if they could provide me with the spare part.

However, this is the reply I got on Monday at 08:30 AM (they barely had time to get to the office and sit down):

"Dear Alberto
Your kit is over 38 years .
The newer kit is new tooled kit. Yours is pre-Hornby`s.
Old tooled kit .
There will be a charge for the part and postage.
Part may not fit.
Thank you
Airfix spares team"

This is not really the reply I was hoping for. Has the database got this kit wrong? And am I just getting very old-fashioned, or are they not very helpful or even polite?

I would love to hear your opinion.
