Two years since I bought the Academy kit and some PE stuff. Sadly, everything at dry dock since then.
Now it was already time to start with it. Had to review paints needed for it and specially made a lot of research on the most accurate colours to be used for some parts. All paints used are Model Color from Vallejo.
For lower part of cranes, walls of well decks and cargo hatches I chose 70.818 red leather. And for the tricky White Star "Buff" for funnels, they will be in 70.913 yellow ochre.

First drawback found on Hunter's wood deck #40001 as it doesn't match exactly with my 14215 Academy Kit. For the moment I have found that parts doesn't fit in both fore and aft well decks. Some openings are missing, piece next to the fore deck breakwater has to be cut-out apart, etc..
I noticed there is another Hunter reference, #40002 which seems to match with 14215 but don't want to buy it until be fully sure. Also there is the option for the ArtWox AW50031.
Will have to consider both. If somebody knows any other choice will be nice to hear from you !

Fore and aft deck finished for painting and wood decks. These ones needed extra work to make them fit properly. Small mismatches solved cuting tiny parts of spare deck wood. Project album updated.

Yesterday I continued working with PE parts, this time with the Eduard 17014 kit. Found out that, if I 'm not got totally blind, there are two missing parts corresponding the long beam cranes. There are 6 of this type in the ship but Eduard's kit includes only 4 pieces of part #48 (replaces part E24). Waiting answer from Eduard's customer support.

Do you already have an idea what to use for riggi´n? EZ? Uschi?

Hi Holger. No idea what EZ was so I had to google for it 😉 A kind of flat metallic thread ?? And something similar for Uschi I guess ?? For the moment rigging is too far in my built but will consider these options once the moment arrives !

Oh sorry! Didnt knew that you didnt know that stuff. Yeah, EZ-Line and Uschi´s "Rigg that thing" are special threads for riggn´ Ships or biplanes or what ever. Easy to attach with ca glue and very flexible. So you must not fear any bending of the ships mast´s. Especially when the mast is from styrene and not turned brass.
