Donald Dickson IIOK, as soon as I am done the Anime F-14, this one gets going. Anyone have the Eduard interior? Or perhaps just the cockpit part of the Quinta set?

Donald Dickson IIOK, so I HAVE been plinking away on this. The seat belts are tedious as always. And I have like 9 troop seats to do. *sigh*
Cockpit detail is pretty good. Im sure some Huey pilot could pick it apart, but Im happy with it. The decals fit the plastic perfectly. Anything that looks off is my fault. Aftermarket for it is nice, but not needed IMO. The kit comes with PE, I just liked the Eduard belts more. And the PE in the kit includes grates for the exterior and the like. So, really, nothing is NEEDED after market wise.
So, I shall post another update when I finsih the troop seats.

Donald Dickson IIGot some bench time in finally. Seats are all done. Interior together and dry fit of the fuselage is good.

Donald Dickson IILooking like a Huey now. 🙂 Let me tell you, the PE screens dropped in perfectly. I actually enjoyed doing them. The bad part so far has been the directions. That's the one criticism of the KH kits I agree with. They got the numbers right, but backwards of their spots with the intakes. But easy enough to figure out.

Donald Dickson IIAll the major stuff aside from rotors together. Flat black as primer sprayedon top. Hit the bottom and go from there.

Donald Dickson IISeams worked on more, black all over. Main rotor built. Underside is black, top side will be the light gray. Added on the satellite antennae on top of the rotor.

TreehuggerAny idea if the Venom is similar enough to a Bell 412, to maybe expect some resin conversion kit?
Nice to see that there are internal walls behind the cockpit seat, something afaik missing in 1:72 models.

Donald Dickson III honestly have no clue on that. The only way I know to do a Y is this kit. As with all the KH kits, I really wish someone would snag their molds.
So, of course, the bird with the cool snake skeleton markings also has the more difficult paint job. So spent an hour masking before spraying the darker gray leaving the black stripe. I have to go back and do touch ups and fix the area of the spine I had to sand. Next masking is to cover the top side to spray the light gray.

Donald Dickson IIMore work today. First time using silly putty for masking. I really like it for area coverage and curved lines. Straight lines are still tape. I look forward to doing SEA camo or 15C camo with it.
So the paint is all on. Time to do decals then rear rotor and details.

Donald Dickson IILast update until I finish. Most everything is done. A good portion of the fidley bits etc. A few more of those, the tail rotor and the weapons. And fixing whatever else I manage to cock up.
I skipped the stencils because they dont show up against the gray. I wasnt going to do all that for stuff you cant even see well.

Donald Dickson IITook a little longer, but all done. Had to go with doing a slick as I managed to sacrifice some parts to the modeling Gods, so no weapons.
Good kit over all. Decals are so-so. Turns out they dont like to stay down. Had to brush on Alcald dull coat on several to get them to stay down.
A solid B in my opinion.
