What I always wanted to know: on the left wing we have a drop tank, but what´s this thing with the open front end at right?

It's a camera pod for target photography Thomas. Very nice touch that Airfix actually included that 👍

Thank you, Sebastian. Never seen such a thing before.

Bloody Airfix thought the new tool planes were meant to be better. Could have built another plane out of the plastic I have scraped off this. New tool! They should close the moulds everything has a huge seem line and flash. Goes together fairly well, but, come on Airfix step it up!

Interesting you say that Dan, the P-51 has the same issue.. the F-4 too in places.
Shame as they are good kits

I must have a closer look at that Walrus!

The Walrus is nice and clean. No over-spill at all.

That's airfix so inconsistent

Your progress so far hides the quality issues of the kit perfectl, that it seems it is an shake and bake kit!
Great Work 👍

Not Shake and Bake by any means. Took a lot of clean up and I think there is a fair bit of filler in the seems. But after a prime and paint its passable!

That really is surprising and disappointing for a new mould. I had similar issues on the Revell Eurofighter but that was a ten year old/end of run impression. Surprising as I have never had that on any Airfix kits myself. Maybe thats why it is in short supply at the moment (expected May-2018). Perhaps they are cleaning it up ?

I am building the Trumpeter one too at the moment. While there are issues with the shape, it goes together much easier than this one. I just hate the Airfix soft plastic.

I would call this one a lot better than just "passable" 👍
