Still working on the details. I purchased the U-Model wheel set. These wheels sound fine, but they still require finishing work. They are not exempt of bubbles, and the molding sprue clears the tread pattern. this is not a concern, as you can hide it under the tire, except for the spare wheel 😉

The build is almost finish. The U-model wheels are very good, and give to the Tamiya GPA, the right look: A big car with small wheels. Now I must found more informations concerning the colors and marking of the FFL (Free French Forces), that have been use during the Italy campaign. I have only one picture...
I would have prefer one from the 2nd DB, but I have no picture, and the marking would be fictional.

I admire your attention to detail. I like the Taniya kit and built it straight out of the box. I plan to pair mine with a DUKW which was a much more capable vehicle. I look forward to seeing your completion.

Sorry for the delay between updates, but I'm busy at work... The DUKW is also in my stock, (with many others), but my next AFV project will be a Sherman. ! For the details, I say thank you to Aber and Eduard. With them, all you need is a good iron, and some soldering solution, and of course at 45 years old, good magnifiers 🙂
This is my first test with AK ang Mig Ammo paints. Not so bad, but I doubt that those paints could be use straight from the can. A dilution is needed. The Acrylic grey primer is nice as a base for pre-shading. It is very tense when dry. but you can't sand it, so as to have a thin demarcation that will be invisible underneath a paint job. For that job there is still nothing better than Mr Surfacer 1000.
No update until the end of the year... I won't have time...
Merry Christmas !!!

Happy new year !
Even if it could have started better in my country 🙁

As you can see, I've changed my mind, concerning the marking of my first GPA. I don't have enough datas for a French model.
The white stripes have been painted with the Mig Ammo Washable White. I want to paint the missing numbers, by doing masks with my Silhouette Cameo cutting system. The risk with decals, is to accentuate the transparent support during the weathering process. Unfortunately, this cutting systeme was not accurate enough for the USMC logos.

Looks really good to me. A fine job

Ok, now the masking is behind me ! I've used my "Silhouette Cameo" cutter system with Tamiya tape. Next step, a little bit of satin varnish to protect the last paints from the coming weathering.
I've used the RLM04 (H413) from Gunze for the yellow, which is a close match with the decals colors.

I admire your courage to change direction when you didn't have enough to do the Free French Forces version. Seems like there is more written about America's lend lease program than the pictures that modelers can use. I look forward to seeing your completions. By the way I found another scalemates that has quite the diorama (the newsfeed featured his log cabin and trees and I ran across his GPA).

Thank you !
The seats are almost finish, the levers are just waiting to be glued in position.
The last step should be the steering column, and the construction will be finish.
I have used some pigments, but as usual, because you always need to manipulate the model, even with gloves, you need to reworked them a little bit before to seal them.
I'm quite happy with the Archer wet transfers. The result is superb, and the use very easy. I think that it's easier to use a tweezers to place them, instead of a brush, as advised by the Archer tutorial.

A totally different project : 1/48 F-21 Lion US NAVY Wingman (Kinetic)
My next AFV project should probably be a Tasca Sherman.
