Well, after being inspired by Jos Jansen's 109 and Daniel's 190, I have decided to move up one of the very few WWII projects in my queue to the top of the list, and it's next! This will be only my second prop plane, the first was a P-51K I did a few years ago.

This one was very far down my queue, so I really hadn't decided on markings and therefore had no decals or paint ready for this. I did some searching for 109F markings, and found some really cool and unique ones, and I have made my choice! Wanted to do something a little bit different with this, and I think that this Spanish bird would qualify as a unique 109 indeed.

So paints and decals are now on order, paint should be here within a week but the decals are coming from Europe, so "fingers crossed" it should arrive early November hopefully. Kinda excited to get a bit out of my comfort zone here and take a break from all the kerosene burners I usually do. 🙂

Welcome aboard my American friend, this is really great that you join Michael, and I totally get you. It is my first WW2 Axis fighter and I have no experience with this at all, but I am so motivated and excited by some very good modeling friends. Although I will soon also have to smell afterburners again ... haha 😉. What a very cool Spanish color scheme, you don't see this often ... that certainly makes it special.

By coincidence, I was able to purchase the decal sheet from Caracal (Sukhoi Su-30MK). I know there is no such thing, but I got the chance to buy a Hobbyboss kit, SU-30MKK tonight through someone on the internet. I am inspired by your Indo Flanker and I absolutely want to have an Indo Flanker next to my Indo Viper. Your Flanker will definitely be my best reference ...!

Which paint and where did you order the paint in Europe?

Nice choice Michael.

That's a pretty cool 3 color theme! Hope the vfa 103 hornet didn't get this ones former queue number as I am really looking forward to that one 🙂 But will be watching this one as well ofc! 👍

Some kind of off-topic for you, Michael. For sure this will be interesting, too!

Welcome Jos, Eelco, Daniel, and Sven!

Jos, I look forward to seeing your Indo Flanker! The Hobby Boss kit is really nice. While I did not use that kit for my Indo Flanker, I did use it as a base from my Su-30MKM conversion. It is a very pleasurable build, very good fit and well done overall. I think you will really enjoy it. If you have any questions along the way, just let me know! I am using a combination of MRP and Gunze paints for this, and these are actually coming from Sprue Brothers here in the States, which is why these will be here in such short order. It's the decals that are coming from Europe. Hungary, to be exact via eBay. Estimated to arrive by November 5th.

Daniel, the Super Hornet is still next. In fact, I may start it if before I finish the 109 if I get done with paint before my decals arrive next month. I took a look at the 109 kit last night and even started some assembly, and I really think this one will be a very quick build (even for me), so much so that it might need to be paused to wait for the decals.

By the time I start with the Flanker, I'll definitely let you know. Below the link to the my project, if you have any tips and tricks in advance, please let me know. I've seen your Malay H version, really beautiful!

Sorry, my friend, I didn't read it correctly. I have also ordered from Sprue Brothers a number of times, within a week I often had the ordered items delivered, really great! Hopefully, you will get the decals from Hungary a little on time ...?! Your 109 is going to be a stunner, no doubt about it.

Thanks Jos! I can't think of anything offhand, but I will be following along with you build so I will only be a message away if something comes up.

Welcome Erik, Sergej, and Michael!

Yeah Michael, this is definitely off the beaten track for me. But this will be a bit of a laid back build for me, completely OOB other than decals and not going to worry to much about details and accuracy, although I will try my best to be accurate as a whole.

Anyway, the album for this build has been started, and can be found here:

Not much to report so far, just some assembly and priming of the cockpit. My paints arrived Friday, so I am good to go there.

Now these are some original markings! Glad to catch this build as well. Enjoy Michael! 👍
