Antenna's on the side were made out of two antennas from a 1/48 Dragon Ju88, I just cut them in half to make four. Holes were drilled with a pin vice.
All surfaces sanded with 800 grit sand paper, then washed with soap & water.
Might have a problem with the wing's sagging.
My canopy has a crack down the center. 🙁
Four of these antennas are from a Academy 1/72 F-15C, the others are scratched build.
Using a 1"x4" board and full loop hook's to form a handle.
Pre-shade with Tamiya X-1 Black lines, then some areas filled in with a black sharpie marker.
Trace paper used as a soft mask, I drawed out the design on the surfaces then traced them on to the paper then cutted out the shapes. Rolled up masking tape is holding the paper down.
A size comparison between the B-52D and F-15C Eagle, both are 1/72.
Model Master Enamel Dark Green #1710 is complete.
This 1/72 B-52D is the largest model I've airbrushed, you can see where the 1"x4" comes in handy. I'm using a Badger 200G single action airbrush.
Masking for SAC Bomber Green #1793.
Two coats of Model Master Enamel SAC Bomber Green #1793.
First coat of Model Master Enamel SAC Bomber Green #1793, Model Master has discontinued the bottle #1793, only available in spray can #1993.
Tamiya X-1 Black on the underside and side, XF-1 Flat Black on the nose and chin.
All the main SEA colors are on.
Green Zinc Chromate.

Thanks Cuajeta, Yes sort of. I started this model back in 2008, now I'm going to finish it. I'm going with the South East Asia paint scheme. 🙂

Thanks Daniel. I built mine in 1995, but now it needs a great restoration. So I follow you with interest.

After filling and sanding, I went over the hole aircraft with 600 grit sand paper then followed with 800 to get all surfaces nice and smooth. The antennas on the bottom are from a Academy 1/72 F-15C kit, the ones on the side are from Dragon 1/48 Ju88, I just cut the two down the center to make four.

Before painting I washed all surfaces with soap and water, using Tamiya TS-48 Gunship grey on the top unpainted surfaces. For the camouflage pattern I used trace paper to get a soft edge line. First color up is Model Master Enamel Dark Green #1710.

Area's that have been painted Dark Green I used tamiya tape to hold the soft edge masks down. And I'm using a airbrushing with about 15 psi.

All the color's have been applied, I've been doing paint touch ups this past week. This model has become a paint hog. 😉

Lovely! I restored mine a few years ago as well and have another in storage. Just love this kit. I'm looking forward to your progress!

With painting taking just over a month now, I've decided to take a break from the B-52.
