Too late. Finished. 😉

You're awsome, mate!
I never believed you could draw the dwarves recognisable.
I bow my head in humility...

Hallo Ulf! Ich gratuliere Dir herzlich zum 2. Platz beim ModellFan Wettbewerb. Deine Lancaster hat sich diese Platzierung auch redlich verdient.

Thank you very very much, mates for your enthusiastic comments! 🙂
Your kind words straighten me up again.
In the meantime I became a little bit disappointed as I started several attempts to contact the author in order to get his opinion to my interpretation of his work - which is the real masterpiece here! But despite I definetely know, that my messages reached him I never got any reaction . . . 🙁

What I really like about most of your projects is, that you almost always get your inspiration from a book, a film,or, as in this case from a comic.
That would , if I had your skills,be my source of ideas as well. Wonderful executed transition of a head - born picture into a diorama scene ! 🙂

You are just too nice, Hanno!
Everyone joining the most beautiful hobby in the world has his very own approach of inspiration and the way to realize it.
I see my projects - at least most of them - as a kind of 3D painting. For me it is most important that the composition as a whole is convincing. My focus is not on 100% correctly detailed models. It is an aspect, of course, but just one amongst others.
Nevertheless I fully respect every other mate who builds models for instance that are historically precise up to the very last rivet. The same with all those who simply build out of box just in order to become relaxed and get a little workflow-meditation. 😉
In the end it is a hobby what we are doing and no competition, so in order to come back to the skills you mentioned, you should just realize your own dream and not trying to impress someone else with the results of your work! You are doing it for your own satisfaction and every single model you finish always means a step forward in your skills as well.
By the way, I just had a look on your portfolio and I have to say that already your choice of originals is unique and fascinating. So keep up!👍

Ulf, I agree with you that modelling must be done, first of all, for passion and relax. Then, among us modellist there are more "gifted" guys and less gifted guys (as I am), but as football teach, no needs to be all Christian Ronaldo or Messi to play. Everybody plays with his own qualities, the important thing is to have a good time doing models, and to look at the skilled mates to improve ourself.

Ulf Petersen
Fully agreed Cristian,
to put it in a simple way: you must be happy with what you are doing. 😉

THE IDEA

In 1995 the Edition Comic Speedline published the book "The seven dwarves" from Mark van Oppen aka Marvano (ISBN 3-910079-85-7).
The book tells the sad story of a (fictitious) british bomber crew in the year 1943.

This story touched me very much and as the modellboard started a group build project for 4-engine aircraft this was an occasion for me to transfer this literary theme into a model.

I show the aircraft and its crew right before the start to their 26th and next to last mission, in which two of their members get killed.

The diorama plays on the circlic parking space which has been created for each bomber on t
