My late grandfather served as a radio operator on U2518 (Type XXI, no war patrols) between November '44 and May '45. Until his death a few years ago he still spoke about his experiences (...good and bad) in the German submarine force. You could always realize his relieve to have survived, his sadness about friend who just perished never to be seen again AND about all the brave souls, from both sides that is, lost at sea in a insane struggle for power and world domination.
This is dedicated to my grandfather and all those who never made it home!

Sebastian Meyner Hi Holger. Auf dem ersten Bild steht er in der ersten Reihe ganz rechts außen. Im Bild Nr. 2 relativ mittig, lehnt über's Geländer und schaut direkt in die Kamera (...der mit den Handschuhen). Soweit ich herausfinden konnte, wurde das Foto wohl Ende '44 nach Fertigstellung bzw. Ende der Baubelehrung bei Blohm & Voss in Hamburg gemacht.
Vorerst sind das alle Fotos die ich finden konnte. Ich weiß aber, dass meine Eltern noch einige Fotos aus seiner Zeit beim Deutschen Minenräumdienst haben.

Ein Opa von mir war auch Minenräumer auf einem M 40 Boot. Da ist leider kein Bausatz zu bekommen, soweit ich weiß...
