Hi Vic, I'm not military orientated at all apart from my Fathers history of serving on HMS Cornwall during WW2...
But I'm pretty sure that's a SA 7 also known as SAM 7 missile system...
As for the ship USS something or other????

Then is it 9K32 Strela-2 and a Russian ship in the 90's???...
Now that's spooky Vic, I didn't have to mention that and I thought twice about doing so and wasn't... Then!!!
I looked at a picture I have of my Dad in uniform to my left hanging on the wall whilst I was typing.
I heard him say "go on mention it," obviously not literally, but in my head... Do you think he knew something???
He survived the sinking of HMS Cornwall on Easter Sunday 1942, but its horrors haunted him for the rest of his life. He died in Kingston Hospital 1989, I was with him.
I have first day covers of F99 being launched by HRH Princess Diana and a Zippo lighter, I also have a certificate signed and presented by Neptune for when Dad crossed the Equator a nice memento...

Hmmm!!!
I'll have a stab at HMS Eastbourne, so British, approx 1976 and a Limbo A/S mortar Mark 10, round Iceland somewhere during the Cod Wars...
That uniform don't look British though🤔 you must admit???
I was living in Aberdeen at the time working for British Relay TV and remember the Cod Wars well!!!

The uniform is good old No 8's with anti flash, and the Weapon Engineering officer in his special white overalls. Yes the Limbo Anti Sub mortar is in the stowed position. The ships pennant number is F72 not F73 - was the correct number for HMS Eastbourne.
The Cod Wars were a bit before my time but I do remember watching it on telly and the series "Warship" with HMS Hero, played by HMS Phoebe. Same class a the quiz picture.

Could be the British Javelin System
So it should be after 1984
The System was also used by some other contries

Hi Vic, seems to be the Leander class Frigate F72 HMS Ariadne. The missile system could be th Blowpipe missile system used by the RM and the year could be the year 1985. Interesting you served on HMS Cornwall. I saw her in May 2011 in Devonport short of her decommissioning.
Cheers, Christian

Hi Christian, Yes the ship is HMS Ariadne and the missile system was the Shorts Javelin shoulder mounted short range surface to air missile, the Blowpipe upgrade. We carried out ship board trails on the way to the Arabian Gulf in 1988.
I had some happy times on the Cornwall and was very sad when they scrapped her.
