Wonderful build! Its the A-7 version, isnt it? May i ask how much weight you added to make it not turn into a tailsitter?

Tim Sloan
thanks guys.. yes, its the A7..I finished this one last year, and I honestly cannot remember how much weight I added. I do remember that the weight recommended in the instructions wasnt enough. I ended up adding lead weights inside the hollow nose wheel, which worked perfect.

my league 🙂 Night Hunter 👍 beautiful work 👍
However, the landing gear should be for the time already painted RLM 66

RLM 66 !!

The instructions were not to be painted undersides. Background was the saving of man-hours . Unpainted Flugzeugalu is rather dull gray than shiny metallic
- The pilots insisted on painted leading edges. They had made the experience that could be seen approaching American unpainted hunters glitter on the leading edge
- However, the paged and dislocated surface manufacturers had no subpages color, it was them, so not allocated . So you have painted with the color that was assigned to ( Oberseitentarnung )
- RLM 84 is not there , is an American Fantasiebezeichung . The aim of the painting was reintroduced for man hour savings , not to Materialersparung to provide the machine with only a single coat. To this end, RLM 76 was provided with zinc chromate to minimize corrosion. Sounds absurd , given the non- painting the undersides .... but for example, borne out by the Me 262 in Switzerland (now Munich): The Swiss described it in the original unpainted as below and the hull sides and - bottoms razor thin with greenish light blue color . This is all just for series machines of mass production. Original parts from 0-series of the Ta 152 show a green Zinkchromatgrundierung and 76 ( old) over it
- Wood and plastic parts (ie all fabric-covered rudder ) were with rust-red dope ( actually rust , iron oxide as pigment) coated, about then normal , old 76th

As you can see , it is in this patchwork to the result -planned action and did not occur due to chaotic ad- hoc solutions . The is more often found only on small parts and detailed solutions (eg green-painted wooden equipment rack parts , unpainted instrument versions etc ) , mixing paint with regulatory changes (eg change of RLM 02 for landing gear on RLM 66 , so there was machines with different chassis ) or FW- hulls in green - with gray face sets in green-brown.

Just as well you did a magnificent job Tim, this is my favourite German aircraft. Looks fantastic. Whats worse you are temptoing me to buy the 32nd scale which I said to myself ... No Bill you have 6 48th scale to finish... ummm very tempting.

Sorry, aber die Fahrwerke auf den unter dem Link abrufbaren Farbfotos sehen in keinster Weise als mit RLM 66 lackiert aus. RLM 02 scheint mir hier die richtige Wahl zu sein.

If right or not, i´d feel more comfortable with RLM 02! And thats what counts for me!😄

@ Tim: Sorry for doing the discussion in german. Independently of this discussion you produced a very nice replica of the "owl ". I like this clean and subtle wheatered finish.
