Its to bad that I've got the wrong front window. But it will have to do on this build.

Just wanted to say nice work, the scratch built seat looks better than the factory one as well. I have two of these kits, but only one weapons upgrade, I am looking to get the other CMK conversion, the one with benches on the outside, so two variations of the subject. I am nowhere near the same skill level as you, this is my first try with resin as well, I haven't built a model in more than thirty years. Figured I would start with something simple, and it doesn't get much simpler than these littke birds.

Question, what did you mean you had the wrong windshield? That caught my eye in a bad way, is the windscreen different on the AH-6J over the MD500? Is there a conversion windscreen that you know of?

Thanks in advance, Anthony "Stalker6Recon" D'Agostino

Thanks guys.
This was a fun build.
Anthony, only thing wrong with the windscreen is the tint. The one I got is tinted and not clear. I don't know if any conversionkits, but other kit versions of this chopper comes with a clear screen.

Cool build! And an interesting approach to build the frame first and then the interior! 👍

Now I understand, I thought that the frame may have been wrong, but the glass color, makes sense, it is ugly. From what I read, they were trying to recreate the gold tint electronic protection that was used on the actual model the kit is meant to build. Do you know if this conversion works with the other kits in the same line? If my kit comes out looking decent, and that is a BIG IF, I might buy two newer kits just for the glass. So far, I have cut the doors out already, which is a bit scary since the frame left over around the pilots, is already thin, after removing the front doors, it razor thin, thought it was going to break during the cutting process. I did notice that you patched the upper fuselage over both rear door openings. Can you explain why you did that? You obviously know what you are doing, so I want to repeat as much of the details that you did, its a high bar to reach, but I have to at least try.

Thanks again for the info and sharing such a nice build with us.

Anthony, I think the resin will fit all version of this kit. I belive there is a police version as well. But cant say for sure. Maby other brands also.
Have a nice time building, I believe it will turn out great.

Guess what I did? I will keep you out of the horrible suspense I put you in as I am not cruel. Anyway, as you know, I am building two helicopters from this same kit, with aftermarket upgardes to the attack folding board troop carrier version. You know about removing the doors before building of course. Well since these are my first kits in years, I already made a HUGE MISTAKE. First, I removed both port side doors via scoring a thousand times via sewing needle in my x-acto handle with sewing needle attacked. Then I did the starboard side, not problems. Then it came time for the second bird to enter surgery. When I lookd closer to, I realized that the rear door is molded separately. This means that whatever I cut out of the first bird needed to be fixed.

So, instead and smashing my head thru a wall, I tool this as a reason to buy new kits with the proper clear canopies! I will build these as OOB just for the practice, since my last build was 3+ years ago.

Now I just need to find and order two more Hughes 500D kits online and hope I don't get robbed on shipping. Meanwhile, I am going to Frankenstein the hell out of these kits, doing lots of damage/repair and even scratch build so stuff just for the learning experience.

Thanks for sharing your build,
