Building the Revell Smit Frankrijk Harbour Tug
I used my foam cutter to advantage in this project, I wouldn´t have been able to make these clean angled cuts in foam board otherwise.
I wasn´t sure about how to present the model at first, and wanted to do some experimenting, hence two bases.
I also enjoyed working with all sorts of styrene stock and Tamiya Extra Thin.
The bases were primed in black and then sprayed Fire red and brown successively.
Pastel chalk helped, too.
The base is done, with some bits and bobs from the spares box.
I always wanted to use ye aulde salte chippinge technique. And liked it.
The Hull needed quite some masking and chipping.
I do like the look of the deck where the rust red "primer" shows through.
The propellors look a bit like that in the real thing, surely no shiny brass.
The kit parts fit very well, and it was a joy to add them ...
The decision for the drydock has been made.
A number of generic figures from the architectural supply are cleaned up and painted.

I had this kit and used it to build something that was really seriously weathered, for, um, Fun. I made two versions of the base, and ultimately decided to use the drydock section instead of the slipway. The latter may be used as a model in its own right yet.
