This started out as an OOB build to take a break from the normal super-detailing, etc. But then I found myself adding very small diameter solder to represent tubing and lines in the cockpit, etc. So much for the OOB idea! Plus I've spent several hours studying the wealth of information on the web about the paint colors used by Japan in WWII. What a Pandora's Box that is! Yikes!

This one will use the Airfix decals, but will use the correct paint scheme for the aircraft depicted. The aircraft was actually used in training, so the undersides will be orange-yellow, not gray as Airfix states. That should make for an interesting combination with the IJN Dark Green on the top. Pix to follow...

Bill, sit down and listen to me. You are not able, NOT to add something to a kit. You must face it, i´m sorry. And be aware that there is no cure for you, instead of the dead.😢😢😢

What paint will you use for the orange underside? I'd like to do mine like that as well. Or a mix with preferably Tamiya XF paints.

Holger, you are right! It's Advanced Modeller Syndrome at its worst. We need a support group like Alcoholics Anonymous. "Hi, I'm Uncle Navy Bird, and I have Advanced Modeller's Disease. All I can think about is photo-etched brass! I live to breathe resin dust!" 🙂

Urban, I think I'll use Gunze H24 Orange Yellow. Are you familiar with that? I've used it before for the leading edges of the wings on Japanese planes. I've got to do some more research first, to see what the real colour was.

That looks intersting, I want to build a zero too, maybe you can tell me about your expirience on this one.

By the way, this is a nice little kit, with the emphasis on little! I'll post some cockpit photos soon, but I can say that I used FS34102 to represent the "Mitsubishi Interior Green." I hope the plane I'm modelling was built by them, and not by Nakajima, who used a different green for the interior.

Hi Jan, yes you are right, Nick has completed some excellent research. I've been carefully reading everything on his web site. Cheers!

That's weird. I read Jan's comment and replied. But my reply is listed first, above his comment. Tim?

I think, when i will build a Zero, I will put Zero cockpit details in. My god Bill, it is so small, But, I have the same sickness for super detailing and enjoy scratch built unless it has to be a ready made accessory. God, I even cant see well at the age of 59. Getting bloody old I guess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are so old as you feel. And sometimes I feel so old. 🙂
