Bristol Scout scratchbuild
The completed model, rigging is 2lb breaking strain Maxima fishing line.
Test fit of the wings and engine cowling
The propeller is carved from laminated wood veneer and a propeller boss added from Proper Plane.
Rib stitching is added with Eduard 1/48 scale photo etch stitching.
Roundels were painted on after masks were cut on my Cricut cutter.
The fuselage was made by building the frame first. It would have been much simpler to cut the sides from styrene sheet and add frame details to that. The wings are a basswood core skinned with styrene onto which the rib details were embossed with a ballpoint pen.
The side guards were shaped from aluminium sheet. Hatches were simulated with masking vinyl and the rivets were punched out using a Small Shop Nutter and Rivetter tool.
The engine cowling came from a sauce bottle top and fits the plan perfectly.

I know this build already but really nice to see your great work here again!
Once you are finished, a kit from Copper State Models appeared on the market. Hmm, I should think about I type I really need. I just need to persuade you to build this type scratch and then I can build the new appearing kit myself. 😉 😉

Thanks Robert, Frank and David. It looks better in the photos than in the flesh because I haven't shown the misaligned top wing but many thanks for your generosity!
Yes Frank. I seem to be able to summon up the modelling gods. Within a year of starting to scratchbuil a BE2c in 1/32 Lukgraph released an awesome kit in 1/32. 😂

Thank you so much Villiers, it was a bit of fun but a tough project for me at the time. I might make another in 1/24 one day. It's a pretty little biplane.

Album info
I had a lot of fun making this and learned a lot about model making. I used a few aftermarket items, Gaspatch Lewis gun, a resin Le Rhone engine from a Russian supplier and wheels from the spares box.
It's a bit rough and ready but looks enough like a Bristol Scout for me to have been happy with it.
