Caproni Ca.310 as an ICBAF liason aircraft

Album image #1
This is a picture of a Ca.309 (and a Ca.314), the only I found with the Italian roundels 🙂
(Taken by a US aviator in Bari in 1944)

I assume that my CA.310 had the same colours 🙂

Album image #2
A technical drawing from the old and gold CMPR publication

Album image #3
Someone interested in the (wonderful) Norwegian decals?

Album image #9
An intermediate step in assembling and painting the interiors

Album image #10
I painted the interiors in grey (grigio azzurro chiaro) and not in green (verde anti corrosione) because the aircrafts used by the ICBAF were heavily reconditioned.

Engines and landing gears almost finished

March 26 edit: assembling the engine I noticed that the NACA is 1mm shorter for a perfect fit...I was warned by one of my references but it was non so clear. I'll try to solve with a bit of plasticard. For the next, I'll directly work on the engine base.

Album image #21
Second primer 🙂

Album image #22
Still some imperfections... Let's see ...

March 30 edit: working on the imperfections using Mr Surfacer 500

Album image #23
Working on imperfections with Mr. Surfacer 500

Album image #24
Applying Mr. Surfacer 500 as a final step...

Album image #25
First layer of "Verde Oliva scuro"

Album image #26
Second layer. Some flaws still visible, I'll try to work on them step by step.

Album image #27
Do you remember the engines in pic. 20? They're a sort of nightmare, the assembly is a sort of "challenge"...And I just realised that I assembled the last part in two opposite ways 🙂

April 23 edit: I decided to keep the engines as they are and I worked a bit on them, smoothing the surfaces.

Album image #28
Et voilà, engines are placed!
Working on the NACAs

Album image #29
Some post shading

Ehmmmm: you can see here that the left engine is not so perfect....See previous pics, they are a really an uncomfortable topic

After some washes

Album image #33
Started decaling after applying super gloss layer 🙂

Album image #34
As soon as the Ca.309 in the first picture had the number "26", I assume that the only co-belligerent CA.310 had "28"

Album image #35
Working in the small PE parts for the landing gear etc...

Time to make this project "public".

My great friend Cuajete had previously the opportunity to look into, I do not how :-D

Moreno, I think I have a special gift for getting into unpublished projects of others 😄
The start look great, but it seems to be giving you trouble early on. Well done so far!

Moreno Baruffini
Thank you dear mates! Yes Cuajete, some troubles, but nothing unexpected from this short run.
I think also it's a beautiful plane, indeed.

Cuajete
I agree with you, Moreno. It's beautiful 👍

Gosh...I can work on the Caproni only few hours a week...But I'm mowing forward!

Cuajete
It's more than I can work with at the moment with my unfinished projects. I look forward to starting that Re.2001 when I can play plastic again 😉

You are doing a good job, my friend 👍

Thank you very much mates! I really appreciate your support!
As written above, I'm progressing slowly, but the project is going on 🙂

I didn't see the latest progress. The system did not notify me.
You are doing a good job, Moreno 👍

Thank you very much Andy! Yes, I absolutely love rare models or strange camouflages 🙂

I'm following this!

Carlo
Interested to see how different it is from my Special Hobby kit, following....
5 April 2023, 14:46
Moreno Baruffini
Hi Skywalker and Carlo, thank you for following my project!
I don't know the Special Hobby, I'll give it a look!
...but I wasn't able to find a Caproni 310 by Special Hobby.... Maybe Carlo refers to the well known Caproni 311?
5 April 2023, 18:03
Carlo
Yes you are correct Moreno, I have the 311 (based on the 310, but lots more vietro !) The fuselage is mainly clear plastic and you paint the non-window sections, should be interesting when I get around to it. Hopefully I will have learnt to use the window mask successfully by then. Special Hobby seems to be the parent of many other brands like Azur/FROMM/MPM I think ?
5 April 2023, 21:16
Moreno Baruffini
I don't know if they are relative, for sure they all come from the Czech Republic and around...🙂
6 April 2023, 05:53
Andy Ball
Hi Moreno: Did you spray Mr S. 500 on, or brush?
6 April 2023, 06:47
Moreno Baruffini
Hi Andy, I usually apply Mr S. 500 with a brush on small surfaces. I have also Mr S. 1000, but I don't' spay it. As primers I use the Tamiya or AK spray cans. For me, It's a sort of try and error method 🙂

Moreno Baruffini
Last two weeks were very busy for me (Despite the Easter break...). I'm working on the acrilic layers 🙂
20 April 2023, 13:12
Cuajete
Moreno, you're doing hard work, but little by little it's getting better. Keep going! 👍
20 April 2023, 18:47
Moreno Baruffini
Thank you very much mate! Yes, little by little is getting better, and I think that the dark livery add value to this aircraft!
20 April 2023, 19:01
Cuajete
I'm sure of it, friend 🙂
20 April 2023, 19:04
Cuajete
What happened to the engines? Were they really like this or is it a manufacturer error?
2 May 2023, 18:31
Cuajete
Oh, I already saw in the pic 27
2 May 2023, 18:32
Moreno Baruffini
It's my fault 🙂 I made an error in one of them but I kept it. No stress
😉
2 May 2023, 18:43
Cuajete
An excellent way to combat stress 😄
Being under the engines, it doesn't look like it's going to see much 👍
2 May 2023, 18:59
Moreno Baruffini
Added two more pics. Not so satisfied about some imperfections, the kit is very demanding concerning the matching between the transparent and the fuselage and concerning many more parts.
Going on, in any case!
6 May 2023, 15:24
Cuajete
That's it, go ahead! 👍
6 May 2023, 19:03
Moreno Baruffini
After a working week with a motorbike accident (please, car drivers, be more careful when you drive 😉 ) I started applying decals 🙂

I'm so sorry, Moreno.
I hope you are well. Get well soon.

14 May 2023, 19:11

I'm so glad you made it out of the repair hangar safely and operational to fly, my friend 😉
Go on!
15 May 2023, 18:34

Finished decalling today, ready for the final steps.

I'm totally operational but stil not completely recovered 😉...But I can fly 🙂
