Do-28
This should be a simple interior, so I’m spicing it up a bit. I’ve ordered some munitions crates to put in the back. I’m also going to try adding one or two interior lights to make it a bit more visible
Removing material to model the intakes
Adding exhaust ports
Primer is down
Interior painted. Details to be added
Just some basic painting on the seats
The captain of the aircraft is also an honorary member of the Blue Man Group
This will be the ceiling mount for the interior lighting
Interior lighting assembled.
Adding seat belts to the passenger chairs
Lighting installed
Interior is being added in. The first officer will be positioned waiting in one of the passenger chairs
Front passenger seats are in
Chairs and FO are in place. I’m still waiting for the ammo crates to arrive, but I should be able to place those even if I close the interior up
Interior is all closed up. The back panel does the trick, although that back corner is much darker than I initially thought it would be
It’s
The cockpit is very dark. Hopefully adding the windows doesn’t make it much darker
After a long break from modeling, canopy and windows are in. Naturally, I managed to lose one of the window panes, so the left window under the wing is missing a window. It should be hidden by the wing and the cargo doors.
The rudder will be posed in parked position.
Matching the tail wheel to the rudder position.
Adding exhaust pipes
Primer is don
Getting started on the camo
I definitely added more yellow than I wanted to the paint mix, I will Try to blend the two colors together with a diluted Neto green
There’s a bunch of spattering from the yellow paint. I really need to stop using tamiya’s yellow
I decided to add some olive drab patches. It has been slightly darkened and turned more brown with some Tamiya xf-10 brown
I may have gone a little overboard with the streaking
Not sure if I’m a fan of the stripe. It’s supposed to be a light olive, but I think I added a bit too much white in the mixture
Some small details left to be painted
I had some extra paint, so I tried adding a bit more shading to the black areas. The primary color is actually xf-85 rubber black, so the straight black is noticable
Since the kit only provides decals for one of the sides of the vertical stabilizer, I decided to paint them instead
Most details are done. The propellers need yellow tips and the vertical stabilizer needs to be painted. There are some smaller detail parts like steps, antennae etc that I’m considering adding once everything is all assembled
Details are all done. A layer of gloss clear before decals are applied.
Decals are applied
Added some salt streaking
More salt streaking. You can also see some “sand” particles ice dusted on
Very heavy “sand”
Final assembly starts
Almost complete. The ammo crates need to be placed inside
Once the ammo crates are placed, the cargo doors will get added

Watching! I have the old Matchbox kit, found in my parent`s basement. Missing the Clear Sprue and one door unfortunately...

This has been a surprisingly fun and quick little build. I think I'll be painting the scheme on the box. Interior is fully clear coated, so next steps are fully assembling the interior and closing it all up. The wiring is a little more obtrusive than I was hoping, so I may scratch build a little panel to cover most of it up

@Gordon perhaps you could build a crashed version. The rear door would be fairly easy to scratch build, but the cockpit glass would definitely be tough though

Thank you all for the nice comments! I've decided to drift away from the original paint scheme. Throughout this build, I've imagined this aircraft bringing small arms munition to some small rural encampment in Africa. I'm fairly certain that Germany hasn't had military forces there since WWII (and this model aircraft didn't fly until 1962), but we'll imagine they are supporting a large scale government effort to squash revolutionary uprisings in the mid 70s 🤔

Well. Why not?! I was thoroughly surprised to see this plane in israeli camo in an israeli airforce museum despite german export bans.

Thank you. I thought originally I went a little to heavy on the streaking, but it does look much better now with the weathering and other additions. Tonight I will add the final coat of matt clear, and then everything will need to be assembled.

Very nice result, especially the lighting looks very realistic. Congratulation!

Aand done. Fairly happy with the result, even though there's a few mistakes. This was a nice and simple kit to get through, and I'd recommend it if anyone is looking for something fast

Very nice progress. I am looking forward to see how you are going to hide the wires.
