F-2A "interceptor"
A few days ago, the first new F-2A mould kit in 24 years was released!
I got it immediately and will try to produce it.

There are parts where several different types of metal are used near the engine nozzles of the F-2, and in previous Hasegawa kits, masking was a difficult task, but in this kit the parts are divided into parts that are very easy to work with.
Of course, the nozzles are also well detailed.

Probably the first in the 1/72 F-16 family with open airbrakes!
PS: It seems that there are already air brake parts in the open state on Revell F-16s.

Parting lines treated.
The parting lines are so thin that they can be erased with a No. 2000 sponge file, so it is not too difficult.

I tried to shape the F-2 while considering the order of assembly.
This is amazing!!!
The parts fit together with a high degree of precision and the detailing in various areas is excellent.

The air intakes are also well sculpted.
Assembled with repeated minor adjustments.
Masked canopy.
I did this while listening to "Danger zone" and almost cheated on my F-14!

Masking of openings.
Paint the inner dark blue first.(FS35045)
This camouflage colour is available in Mr Colour under number 374.(FS35109 approximates)
The special paint absorbs reflections from the sea surface and radar waves, making it extremely difficult to reproduce...
However, it is somewhat different from my image and needs to be adjusted.

Masking with Panzer putty.
I got approximately the colour I was after!
There are nearly 140 decals, so it's a bit hard to apply them all in one night.
So I'm going to sleep for now.

Paint has sprayed through gaps in the canopy and needs to be wiped away.
Mission complete!
Compared with the Hasegawa F-2B produced recently.

I'll be watching closely! The F-2 is high on my want-to-do list, but the camouflage colours are particularly hard to match in my opinion. My preliminary opinion on the FineMolds kit is purely based on photos of the test builds and unboxings: the Hasegawa kit has not been supplanted. That said, I might be in the market for another F-2B once it gets released.

Lucky you, wondering whether it's gonna appear in Europe (keeping my old Hasegawa till then) 🙂
PS. The old Revell had open brakes too (build two of them, but not used the open parts)

There is no doubt that camouflage colours are difficult to achieve.
The bright blue in particular is a colour that looks very different depending on fading and light.

I see the Revell kit also included open air brake parts!
Thank you.

Those japanese liverys can turn any dull plane into a beauty and you did that full justice. Very sleek.

Thank you all!
I am sure this kit will give you a great experience.
I hope you enjoy your "multirole fighter" with the missile set!

Sorry, in my sleep-deprived state I didn't notice the mistranslation.
'In this situation, wiping with an alcohol-based solvent will clean the canopy.'
