Nissan Fairlady 240ZG Tamiya 1:24

Album image #1
Let's start with the engine

Album image #2
Engine block was painted with Tamiya X-14 and not X-4 as Tamiya says in the instructions ... X-4 is too dark

Album image #3
The engine next to a Porsche 917 5 lt 12 cil. engine ..... it's really a compact engine this one from Porsche

Album image #4

Album image #5
"Spark plugs" added. Oil filter painted with a lighter shade of X-14

Album image #6
Ignition wires added part 1

Album image #7
Ignition wires added part 2

Album image #8
Oil filter was painted in a lighter shade of Tamiya X-14. Radiator fan was painted in Ivory

Album image #9
Most of the parts in place, air filter, carbs , plug wiring and so on ...

Album image #10

Album image #11
Painting the recesses with brush before painting with a rattle can

Album image #12
TS-11 Maroon Spray painted , first coat

Album image #13
Second coat. Front and rear struts glued in place ... the kit is so good that these parts almost don't need to be glued. Radiator also glued at this stage ,,, deviating from tne isntructions.

Album image #14
Transmission in place ... Wonderful engineering by Tamiya ,,, with no glue it stays in place. I glued it anyway .....

Album image #15
Detail of the engine bonnet without the accessories

Album image #16
Front brakes also in place and brake lines added.

Album image #17
Brake and clutch pumps with lines added

Album image #18
Also the battery has it's cables added ,,, but more anon

Album image #19
Engine in place ... so far complete ... but wrong battery

Album image #20
As can be seen, the battery is placed too low ... That's beacuse I thought it was the top of the battery, but in fact it's the support for it. Allways read the instructions ,,, some pages in advance ... that's my advice 😉

Album image #21
But I noticed it when the scratch-buid terminals , claps and the wiring were glued in place .... and it took me quite an effort

Album image #22
This is the "new" battery . I've put the battery below the support I detailed thinking it was the top of the battery

Album image #23
Managed not to break the wires

Album image #24
New battery in place. Also brake and clutch pumps in place.

Album image #25
Scratch-building the coil

Album image #26
Coil in place , with all the wires also in place. Calling the bonnet done for now.

Album image #27
"cockpit"
First attempt to paint the seat "vents" ,,, Not a very lucky one
🙁

Album image #28
"cockpit"

Album image #29
Dashboard

Album image #30
Tryed several ways to paint the "vents" in the seats ,,,, No way ,,,, In the end I punched silver decal discs from my old amd trusty Waldron set ,,,,

Album image #31
Seats in place .... I think the result is quite fair

Album image #32
Dash completed with steering wheel and vents. In the backgroud my other project ... engine for a Porsche 917 K from Heller ... which is taking more effort than I thought in the begining ,,,,,

Album image #33
Seat belts made from tin foil from a bottle of wine , and plastic card attachements... which I already drunk ...,, the wine of course , not the anchor plates.
😉

Album image #34
And ... then ,,, searching for something in the stash ... I found this kit.

Album image #35
Full of seat belt attachements and latches ..... hummmm ... I'm making my mind up wether to use it or go on with the self made items ,,,,,,, I guess not much will be seen when the body work is in place ....May be is better to save the parts for another project ......

Album image #36
Moreover .... this very kit also has a 240Z engine ,,,,, and is not a bad one by the way , What a surprise .....

Album image #37
Pedals, dashboard , gear lever ans some other things in place.

Album image #38
Also adde seat belts

Album image #39
Ans the wheels

Album image #40
The way Tamiya has manages to gte the look of the wheels is IMPRESSIVE. It's been a bit difficult to get the metal decal rims in place ... but the result is amazing.

Album image #41
Album image #42
Exhaust and muffelrs also glued in place.

Album image #43
First coat or paint . TS-11 spray . All this "flint" is really nor in the paint ... just fell from the air when I took the picture.

Holy ... Awesome! I barely can't remember, when I did some wiring this intense of a model kit (after my own Beetle). None! Great job!
Do you paint the wiring of the battery (red for power, black for ground)? On the last picture (#26) it looks like the one cable is connected to the master break cylinder. Is that the right position for it? As far as I know, one leads to the ground / body (black) in the near of the battery and the second (red / power) goes to the starter. That's it.

Christian W ,,, I've checked the pictures I've got from the I'net and there's a lot of confusion ,,, in some pictures both wires are in black , in some both in red , and in some in violet and black ,,, I guess that's because most pictures are taken from restored cars .... I'm taking you're advice as how the wires should be ... so I'm thinking about painting the wires. I'll keep you informed . Right now I'm working on the seat belts ... which also is quite confusing .... Any help will be apreciated !
