Mikr Mir kit is pretty low quality, very gooey molding. Pick up the Hobby boss Alfa instead if you can. I've got that one on order so I can compare them.

Oils and washes added, but just the beginning.
Starboard side has oils and washes added. Port's just the chipped sludge.
First sludge step, just hairspray and some green rattle cans.

TreehuggerSumarine kis are fun I think. My favourite is still the Akula clas sub, sort of looks like a giant torpedo.

Kit HeadleyYes. The Akula does have the best proportions and the pod's cool, but it's huge. I had no idea it was bigger than a Los Angeles class until I opened the box

Kit HeadleyThey vary a lot in size. I just added a photo of a WWII Type VII compared to a Soviet Alfa compared to a Soviet Akula. The Akula and the Alfa often get mis-identified as each other in photos because they look similar but they are far from similar in size.
