1/72 Roden Antonov AN-12BK Camov Air UR-KDM

Box contents. 

Although you could half the box! 

An overview of the sprues. 

All the main bits separated from the sprues. 

Upon further inspection I found this enormous piece of flash, it was so thick it required drilling and cutting. 

Flash removed. 

Some of the window holes have flash. 

Shes just a little longer than her Western sister. 

All Large internal components glued in and painted. 

I've used some turkish coins were never going to use as nose weight. 

Were never going back to Turkey so they may aswell be used for something! 

Fuselage together and Cargo door fixed into the closed position, elastic bands are very much an AN-12's field! 

Now into building the wings. 

Wow that's alot of parts for 4 engines! 

The exhaust sections are built with filler added. 

Now the front engine cowlings are too. 

The engines are now ready to rock and roll! 

Shes starting to look like an AN-12 now! 

A drivable weapons loader sits onto of the AN-12 for a size comparison photo. 

Fuselage intake/pitot tubes all built and added. 

Filler, lots of filler! 

Now onto the masking...... 

This part was so tough I decided to use Humbrol Liquid Maskol instead of the usual cut down Tamiya masking tape. 

ITS TIME TO PRIME!!!!! 

Shes all primed and painted! 

close up of the nose, looks like Landing Gear legs have been built and installed. 

Now onto building the props. 

I thought they could spend the night loose fitted as I have something planned to bring the model some extra fine detail. 

Other side. 

Now those props look the part! 

Not all the landing gear had attachment pins so I've had to put on the ones with and I'll attempt to recreate some. 

I hand painted the anti glare black on the nose and cockpit. 

Shes getting towards the end now! 

And 1 last show 

The last 3 main wheels are now glued on. 

And the undercarriage doors and supports are now installed. 

Now shes on her own landing gear I couldnt resist a photo of her with her Western Sister. 

Maybe another. 

Now these are the Air-to-air refueling basket pods which will sit under the outer part of the wing like the KC-130. 

I finished the Air-To-Air refueling pods. 

Silver leading edges of the wings are now silver. 

The leading edges of the engines are silver too. 

Wing tips are red. 

The exhaust nozzles to the rear of the engines are now silver. 

Klear coat on the props. 

I used a template tool to replicate the curvature of the wing and I cut the pylons to shape.
Pin holes were then drilled out and installed on the Refueling pods. 

After alot of measuring and 12 holes drilled, the Refueling pods have been pinned and magnetized to make them removable. 

I've painted the under wing stripes Vallejo Model Air Blue, measured and sliced up the inner Tank pylons to fit the centre of the wings and blued them to the Fuel Tank. 

Wings are unmasked and external fuel tanks are finished. 

And she's finished! 

I'm happy with how she turned out.
If I could change anything it would be the fuel tank between the engines.
Maybe I could find a bigger Russian built one some day?
